Action Alert: Help Preserve Abaco Spanish Colonial wild horse

Milane “Mimi” Rehor (Arkwild, Inc.) was our guest on Wild Horse & Burro Radio last night (the show is archived if you didn’t get a chance to listen).  A big thanks to Marjorie Farabee, Dir. of Wild Burro Affairs for Wild Horse Freedom Federation and Craig Downer, Board member of The Cloud Foundation, for joining in on the show.  Mimi needs help preserving the Abaco Spanish Colonial horse (Bahamas).  You can donate on the website, or help by sending a fax, email or letter (sample below).  Contact information is listed for the Prime Minister and Ministers of Tourism and Environment & Housing.

Faxes especially good because they are logged in and placed on the Minister’s desk.  Here’s the sample letter:

Honorable sir,

I (we) are aware of the strong efforts being made to restore the Spanish Colonial Horses of Abaco. I (we) commend this effort to help maintain descendants of the original Columbus horse, the Abaco Spanish Colonial.  By supporting restoration and preservation of these rare genes, which include the even more rare SplashWhite gene, you are doing a great service to the equine biodiversity of the planet.

I (we) hope that you will continue your support of the efforts of the Wild Horses of Abaco Preservation Society.

  1. Wonderful! Folks, this is our chance to make a mark in the all out fight to protect this incredible strain of horses. The thought that a group of a few horses, survivors, could somehow reproduce wthout fatal flaws is a testamount to the absolute beauty of the equine species. Without man, they thrived. Man destroyed their world and their families. It is down to Nunki, who has been proven to carry the blood of this incredible equine family. PLEASE step up and help. Send those letters.
