“Christmas is so very personal in multiple ways; it is a central book mark in our lives. Bitter sweet is the flavor of the day but it is what we make of it that builds precious memories for the future. It is key that we embrace the good moments with the knowledge that we are living a future memory that will bring us great joy and happiness as we age and look back at this journey that we call life.
With that thought in mind, I share with you a personal building block of happiness that I was allowed to experience only last year as I played Santa Claus along with some very fine people to thousands of children in a rural town in south central China. It is an experience that none of us will ever forget as we passed out reflective safety wristbands and special hair clips to the small children of Nanba in 2015. We brought our culture and traditions to a closed nation that is steeped in traditions of their own, we only hope that we gave them a moment of entertainment, fun and insight. It truly was a highlight in all of our lives.
This passion and this love is what drives us forward with the advocacy. It is not just the glow of the heart knowing that it is the right thing to do but it is also the awareness that your efforts could and will forever change the future lives of not only the horses and burros but future generations of humans who will be able to experience their beauty and grace due to your efforts. That realization gives one not only great conviction but endearing warmth during this most special season.
It is my most sincere hope that you are living a very special memory that you shall cherish for the rest of your life.

I bet that most all of those people that were greeted by Santa last year are remembering that experience now and as you said, that is how memories are made.

The bulk of the emails that I am receiving, this morning, are from my friends in China who are looking back at the past years and missing the time that we spent together. It is…as I said…bitter/sweet.

To RT his family and that of my Horse Warriors, I wish you a very.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Also Happy Hannakah too. As I learned about the candle lighting, I am setting candles up to light the way for all of us and the wonderful equines who have brought us love and memories throughout the year. I also pray and ask God to bring us a successful year for our Hirses both wild and domestic plus the other equines we share our planet with. As I look back on the year I see the accomplishments. One.being the number of horses, burros, ponies. Minis and other equines saved from the kill buyers. The number of Horse Warriors in the trenches who.are so dedicated and the rescues stepping up. Recently there were two auctions in which the KB didn’t get one horse. All went to private homes or rescues. We must keep supporting them thru what ever donations we can. And Elaine Nash and her group who.stepped up with that other dreadful situation. Together WE have come so.far! May God bless all the Horse Warriors on this Christmas day and may he give us guidance plus support as we move into the New Year with more extrodinary saves!! May the Force of the Horse be with you ALL!

With china being the largest consumer of donkeys, were you able to touch upon the need to NOT slaughter them for their hides?

Yes, of course, but for today I was attempting to put atrocities aside and try to enjoy the season and the sentiment.

RT- I’ve been watching the weather in SD & wondering if you or anyone is aware of how the horses still there are doing? It sounds really awful & as I remember – they dont have shelters or windbreaks.(hope I’m wrong about that). It seemed that all or most of the people who were working so hard up there had left for a rest (deservedly so!) and the sanctuary is kind of in the back of beyond. Any word?

This year has sure been bittersweet, My family lost a very special family member shockingly sudden this year. There are no words that can describe, you just feel, it makes me think about the Wild ones, what I feel is what I see in the eyes of the imprisoned ones…. the aching loss…
I’m sorry I threw a wet blanket on things… RT you truly did a great thing last year, for which you gave & receive great memories!!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I also lost a brother this year very unexpected. Still hurting and Christmas was not very merry. But we must keep on keeping on! We owe it to all equine and every animal on this planet to help and save them. We must all be animal angels this new year. I hope 2017 will bring changes for all living creatures, including man. Keep up the good fight and Happy New Year to everyone!
