In 2004, Congress recognized the first official National Day of the Horse, and expressed this:
Encouraging citizens to be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history, and character of the United States and expressing the sense of Congress that a National Day of the Horse should be established.
Whereas the horse is a living link to the history of the United States;
Whereas, without horses, the economy, history, and character of the United States would be profoundly different;
Whereas horses continue to permeate the society of the United States, as witnessed on movie screens, on open land, and in our own backyards;
Whereas horses are a vital part of the collective experience of the United States and deserve protection and compassion;
Whereas, because of increasing pressure from modern society, wild and domestic horses rely on humans for adequate food, water, and shelter; and
Whereas the Congressional Horse Caucus estimates that the horse industry contributes well over $100,000,000,000 each year to the economy of the United States: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That Congress–
(1) encourages all citizens to be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history, and character of the United States;
(2) expresses its sense that a National Day of the Horse should be established in recognition of the importance of horses to the Nation’s security, economy, recreation, and heritage; and
(3) urges the President to issue a proclamation calling on the people of the United States and interested organizations to observe National Day of the Horse with appropriate programs and activities.

Funny, I didn’t realize that our Pres was responsible for preventing the wild horse hunt? At least I didn’t see that anywhere else except:
This was an email from Madeleine Pickens:
“On Tuesday, February 27th, we received wonderful news for our wild mustangs. The Navajo nation had announced it would issue permits and hunting licenses for hunters to shoot the American wild mustangs on Navajo land. This plan was proposed as a way to deal with the overpopulation of wild horses. The above image shows the proclamation proposed by the Navajo nation. President Donald J. Trump stepped in and once again came up with an alternative solution. Stop selling permits to hunt the mustangs and lets come up with a responsible and viable solution so that we can be more respectful of the American icon and more responsible in taking care of our natural resources. When the hunt was announced the American people were appalled. All it took was a great president to step up and come up with greater solution. The people of America have spoken, they do not want the American mustang killed for sport. The Navajo nation has halted plans to sell their hunting permits and licenses. Thank you President Trump for saving these iconic American wild mustangs from slaughter. “

Funny, I don’t find mention of this “news” anywhere, though DJT is not bashful about taking credit for anything. One is left to wonder what his supposed “alternative solution” might be, and if it even exists.
Since the Navajo nation is sovereign, there is nothing DJT could actually do on their lands with their horses anyways. If anyone has the truth here please share.

I know, Icy! I didn’t see anything else either – I still get M.Pickens emails – for whatever reason – & this was a shocker..
No mention of Trump in any of the articles that were about the stopping of the “hunt”.
Would be curious as to where she came up with this info.
Probably never know.

hmmm, Perhaps Ms. Pickens was just being SATIRICAL here ? Personally, I believe that this “rescue event” is about the most UNlikely story that I’ve heard attributed to DJT (and that’s saying quite a lot! ) I suspect that DJT has never seen a horse, except from a distance — as in betting on a horse race from his casino days, or ones harnessed to a carriage in Central park. I *highly doubt* that he’s ever come close to thinking about or seeing a WILD horse herd, much less visiting a Native reservation? As Icy says, DJT is not bashful about taking credit for anything, (even some which have had Nothing to do with him.) I feel pretty certain that her story must be “wishful thinking” expressed as SATIRE… sure would make an interesting dream myth though, huh?

Yes, I am certain that he has at least seen ONE of my tweets. Everyday, what is published here goes to him, the First Lady, all of the relatives, the VP and my favorite government official of all, Dinky Zinke.
It has been my hope that the women of the First family could be touched by the plight of our wild horses and burros and perhaps whisper into the President’s ear. Because every married man knows that “If his wife is miserable, his life will be miserable.” I am not giving up on my daily tweets.
