We didn’t think the House Appropriations Committee would vote to make our few remaining wild horse & burros non-reproducing and single-sex herds, they did.
We never in a million years thought that our lawmakers would vote to put our federally protected wild horses & burros through a grotesque, deadly and inhumane procedure, they did.
We just knew that our elected representatives would vote in favor of the wishes of their constituent’s, they did NOT!
As difficult as it may be to believe, The House Appropriations Committee voted, today, to authorize the BLM to utilize permanent sterilization of wild horses and burros on their rightful range. While not the same as the mass killing program that the horse-haters previously advocated, this will now lead to the slow death of America’s free-roaming herds. It will also subject thousands of wild mares and burro jennets to a brutally unsafe sterilization technique, ovariectomy by colpotomy.
But, all is not lost, we may have a chance to turn things around if we can get our equine loving members of the Senate to do the right thing and stop this ghoulish and inhumane plan from going into effect.
- Call Your Senators at 202-224-3121. Tell them to stand with the 80 percent of Americans who want wild horses & burros protected and humanely managed. Ask them to oppose any 2019 appropriations language that authorizes the slaughter, killing, or sterilization of these cherished federally-protected animals.
- You can also let the amendment sponsor and supporters know how you feel about their vote.

Never EVER give up on our wild horses & burros! We are no doubt infuriated at the results from 2day! I have heard from so many other orgs. 2day regarding this sick outcome for the innocent ones! Make it a point to call all of them tomorrow WEDS AM, and also call the WH and leave a message for President TRUMP. WE must not let them Pass this bill. Mr ZINKE is horrible running this dept of the INTERIOR>

“The Bureau of Land Management betrayed wild horses the moment that it started rounding them up in order to free up federally protected land, which it then leased to the meat industry for grazing millions of cattle.” “Animals raised and slaughtered by the meat industry vastly outnumber wild horses and burros, consume an exponentially greater amount of feed and water, and destroy the environment in the process. Rather than rounding up, corralling, and killing wild herds, the BLM should allow wild horses to remain wild and go after the industry that is actually depleting resources.”

Wrong. Who do you think runs National Parks? The federal government. The problem is not that the federal government owns public lands, it is that Bureau of Land Management is completely over-stepping its bounds and continually trying to appease agri-business. As such it has initiated a program to eventually exterminate our country’s wild horses and burros. They have zero justification for doing so and it is OUR job to speak out against this as a moral outrage.The Dept. of Interior has forgotten what it was created for – to protect and enhance public lands for this and future generations.

No dairy I know of or visited ever rips out cow’s ovaries. They must provide high levels of care to remain profitable — so why do our public officials keep being well paid for such outrageous actions on our behalf? That’s on us. VOTE THEM OUT.

I think we all must contact the WH, and our senators, CONGRESS, and the numbers provided by this site. and we Must tell them this is not acceptable. BLM keeps getting worse and worse. THEY are supposed to be protecting these WILD HORSES!!! CALL IN THE am, TO ALL YOUR senators! and CALL the WH and leave a message there too. Wake up the WH that we have worked so hard to help these animals that have a right to that land. THEY just want that land! ZINKE does nothing….There is a petition to get him out. I will be signing it!

Gelding the males will not in fact make much difference, if any, and would still require costly and deadly roundups. Gelding can also be fatal.

I also contacted Peter Chowka, and sent an email to Michael Savage who is on the RADIO. You can listen to his PODCAST, if you search Utube, Michael Savage, Savage Nation. TODAYs show he has a whole segment on the Article I sent him from here. HE will contact the WH, and the President, and discuss this subject. I thank Peter Chowka, journalist, on Twitter, and he posted this article too. and Thank Michael Savage, Talk Show Host in San Francisco, who a great love of all Animals. So I am happy I could introduce this situation.

I want to know how my congress people voted so I can appropriately contact them. the mid term is coming up again. I need to know how to vote. They take all the beauty away and leave this country a Nazi style devastation. I’ll never vote for another damned republican. So if you support that agenda you brought this on.

Harvest for what? Study for what? There are not enough wild horses left to supply any production of anything, and of course ripping out organs means many will die and none will reproduce, so the notion is self limiting. If you have sources for this speculation please share them.

I was given a heads up that the reason they want the ovaries is for a study. In other words the BLM proslaughter nuts may habe already “sold” the ovaries of dead WILD Horses via slaughter and since slaughter hasn’t materialized they may be doing this to ” harvest” the organs. It explains why they do not want contraceptives. Simultaneously a suit to stop contraceptive from going to WILD mares was brought which is strange timing given the current battle to open and spay mares. I think the person sharing this info w me is really correct. I think our argument is not why are they spaying but what are they doing with the parts removed? I think it’s an agenda already agreed to but hidden from view. U need to dig.

I made my calls today to the WH, and my senators here in TX. Most of them didnt know what I was talking about I guess they needed a BILL NUMBER like HR ???? But they took my comment and I told them the website. I also contacted Michael Savage SF,CA and he is now aware of this, and will forward his comments to the WH.
The Dept of the Interior, Mr ZINKE is not helping these animals. So Please do your calling and see if we can stop this Procedure!

how do we get major media to cover this with correct facts? cattlemen ass’n and blm put out LIES of overpopulation ,starvation and need for herd reduction this is about livestock ranching as there are 28 cattle for 1 wild horse on our land cattle destroy the land,leave it barren Horses keep the land trimmed,healthy ,replant native seeds via their manure and PREVENT WILDFIRES! Wild horses benefit our public lands Cattle destroy the land
