THE TRUTH #24 – The BLM wanted to cover up the black t-shirt (with the words “Protect the Harvest”), and the face of a man wearing it, in their BLM Oregon youtube video demonstrating veterinarian Leon Pielstick using an archaic spaying technique on a “previously wild mare.”

Recent FOIA documents obtained by Wild Horse Freedom Federation contain emails that reveal that in the planning of the BLM Oregon youtube video titled “Ovariectomy research project proposed for wild horses” the BLM wanted to cover up the black t-shirt with the words “Protect the Harvest” (a pro-horse slaughter group), as well as the face of the man wearing this black t-shirt.  (Also note, records indicate that the man in the blue shirt with the straw hat didn’t want his face shown on this video).  You can see the man in the black t-shirt at the left side of this clip from the video, and then see our enlargement showing the words on the t-shirt below:

Similar Protect the Harvest black t-shirts can be seen in this youtube video:

  1. After reading the title of this article I went to you tube before continuing on here. I found the full version of the BLM Oregon you tube video, but I also found a shorter, doctored up version that is even more PATHETIC. That one makes it play and sound like an info-mercial. Complete with paste up graphics good enough to dupe children into thinking that ripping out ovaries from even pregnant mares and other horses is an easy and good thing! BUT the most disturbing to me, is remembering this one flash, of a picture of a rider on a horse, sporting an American flag, sort of going a reigning movement… reminded me of the logo or promotional component for Protect The Harvest Spayed Futurity Races crap. I vividly remember seeing a spotlight on a lone rider with a flag depicted on one of the promos I saw , when I looked up Forrest Lucas and the others years or so ago. Scary stuff. People have no clue there are sick works going on within our government, and BLM is in bed with these sickos. It all about money and it is so infuriating.

  2. Why Animal Cruelty Is Bad Business

It’s simple economics: rather than denying change and crying “Let them eat meat!” these industry giants and veterans are accommodating changing demands. That’s the free market freeing animals—and it reaches more than just food and clothing.

The fact is, in today’s economy, businesses are under a microscope when it comes to how they interact with the world around them. Subjugating the treatment of animals beneath other commercial concerns may have made business sense in centuries past; but today, that doesn’t fly. Clearly, bettering the lives of beasts used in enterprise is no longer at odds with robust balance sheets, but rather is part and parcel to ensuring them.

  3. Thomas Cook Facing Backlash Over Animal Welfare in Hainan

he Chinese government is adamant about making Hainan into a world-class tourism destination that attracts domestic and international travelers alike. This to the extent that it recently declared Hainan a “tourism free-trade zone” where unique policies to boost international tourism would be allowed. Of course, the crux of the whole international tourism ambition is to successfully strike partnerships with overseas tour operators and attract foreign free independent travelers (FITs). This is proving difficult for many reasons, and-perhaps surprisingly-sometimes because of ethical reasons.

The Atlantis, Thomas Cook, and Fosun are in the midst of an international backlash over the use of marine animals to draw in tourists

The arguably most ambitious project in Hainan so far is the Atlantis, Sanya-the torchbearer of Hainan’s luxury transformation, and a resort worthy of international attention.

The Atlantis, Sanya is a $1.74 billion marine, luxury resort, constructed by Fosun International-a Chinese conglomerate perhaps best-known as the owner of Club Med and as a major investor in Thomas Cook.

  4. Trump Adviser Who Supports Animal Cruelty Must Be Dropped

Lucas’ organization stuffs money into the pockets of big agriculture companies by working to deregulate the meat, dairy, and egg industries, and to reverse any progress made to protect cows, chickens, pigs, and other farm animals from horrific living conditions, cruel methods of slaughter, and outright abuse. It also fights to protect the “right” of circuses to exploit animals like elephants, forcing them to live in cages and perform unnatural acts for human entertainment.

Additionally, the group Lucas founded has tried to stop animal rights activists from establishing felony-level punishments for deliberate and hateful cruelty to dogs, cats, and horses. It has even fought against regulating puppy mills.

The profits of companies should not be put before the basic rights of living beings. Not only does Forrest Lucas seem to want to maintain the suffering that so many animals endure on a daily basis for the benefit or entertainment of humans, his actions seem to actually increase the abuse. Now, he’s been handpicked by America’s next president to advise him on issues of agriculture and animals through the campaign and beyond. Sign our petition to demand that Trump stop taking advice from this anti-animal welfare activist.
    Protect the Harvest’s Record

In 2010, Forrest Lucas spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to bankroll the opposition to Proposition B in Missouri, which voters approved to set common-sense standards for the care of dogs in large-scale commercial breeding operations (their statement against Prop B can be found here). Lucas then supported an effort in the Missouri legislature to weaken and repeal parts of the voter-approved measure, before it even had a chance to take effect.

In 2012, Forrest Lucas spent more than a quarter-million dollars opposing Measure 5 in North Dakota, which sought to establish felony-level penalties for malicious cruelty to dogs, cats and horses.

In 2013, Protect the Harvest lobbied against a local ordinance in Harrison County, Indiana, to promote the spaying and neutering of pets and help reduce pet overpopulation, and in Crawford County, Indiana, to provide adequate shelter for dogs and protect them from the elements.

  5. INSIDE TRUMP’S CRUEL CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE U.S.D.A.’S SCIENTISTS

“He came from his job running an organization called Protect the Harvest. Protect the Harvest was founded by a Trump supporter, an Indiana oilman and rancher named Forrest Lucas.”

More than a month after the election, the Trump transition team finally appeared. But it wasn’t a team: it was just one guy, named Brian Klippenstein. He came from his job running an organization called Protect the Harvest. Protect the Harvest was founded by a Trump supporter, an Indiana oilman and rancher named Forrest Lucas. Its stated purpose was “to protect your right to hunt, fish, farm, eat meat, and own animals.” In practice it mainly demonized organizations, like the Humane Society, that sought to prevent people who owned animals from doing terrible things to them. They worried, apparently, that if people were forced to be kind to animals they might one day cease to eat them. “This is a weird group,” says Rachael Bale, who writes often about animal welfare for National Geographic.

  6. #1 I believe this vet (Pielstick) is now under investigation regarding this exact procedure.

#2 When was the last time you saw rusty chains hanging in or near the vicinity of an operation room?

#3 The guy in the pink shirt (end of video), I think is Rob Sharp, BLM Burns Oregon who was involved with selling hundreds of our wild mares (some pregnant) to the notorious Tom Davis (sold to slaughter).

#4 It is my understanding that the only pain medicine used on these horses is similar to novocain which lasts only an hour or so and no other pain meds are given to the animal. Rip out my ovaries and only give me one initial dose of novocain? I think not!

#5 Primum non nocere is a Latin phrase that translates to “first do no harm.” This is the fundamental belief ingrained into doctors that, no matter the situation, their primary responsibility is to the patient. Ultimately, “first doing no harm” means that in some cases it may be better to not do something, or even to do nothing at all, rather than create unnecessary risk. Veterinary medicine is no exception to the principle of primum non nocere. Like all doctors, they are required to maintain the best interests of their patients above all else.

I’m watching the Reno Futurity. Where’s the mustang mares?

Maybe they are dead since spaying mares is a very risky procedure and no one really does it since there are too many risky complications.

Spaying consists of a chain saw in a plastic tube. This is inserted into the uterus, the syringe type device wraps chainsaw around an ovary, the device cuts the ovary and it is withdrawn and dropped in a bucket. The process is repeated on the other ovary. The mare is standing, tranquilized while the procedure is performed. I know because I handled the mares while a vet performed this horrible procedure. Please leave the mares alone. Her body produces hormones to keep her healthy. You should be ashamed.

      • So PTH owned the unfortunate mares. If true, then their presence in the video is to be expected. What they paid for the mares is one thing, what WE paid for the “research” is another. Where is the published, peer-reviewed research data? Where are the research protocols and controls? Where is the followup information on these mares? How many had complications, abortions or died from the spaying? What is up with Dr. Pielstick being the common denominator in all these “experiments” and how much is he being paid, and by whom?

Also, since these and the Sheldon mares have already undergone this gruesome “research” there can be no justification for further mare mutilations, as what little information was new or useful — if even published — indicates there is no need for further such pointless practice on hapless mares. CSU was right to step out of this fiasco, and it isn’t legitimate for any further efforts to use their name to cover their activities.
