As many of you are aware, the BLM was going to send 189 burros to Guatemala after removing them from their homes. There is an effort underway to keep the Guatemala 189 burros in the US. At last count, only 25 remain without homes. We bring this to your attention because our president, John Holland, will be the proud owner of one of the burros. John has been heartbroken since he lost Selina (pictured above) so we are trying to help with the efforts in Selina’s memory.

For more information on adopting a burro and the BLM adoption paperwork, visit the facebook page here or contact Elaine Nash, holdyourhorses@aol.com.

Please share and help turn this into the Guatemala 0.

  1. After watching the video on eliseallen’s blog – the BLM horses being unloaded at a Mexican slaughter plant – hopefully Animals Angels can get somewhere with their investigation! Regarding the burros, good news that most of the burros have been adopted – hopefully the last 25 of the little guys will find homes.

    • BLM stated that they were planning to send 100 Sale Authority burros to Guatemala. There are 189 current sale authority burros in BLM holding facilities. In order to insure that BLM can’t move forward at this time, we are finding homes for ALL of the sale authority burros. Meanwhile, using time that this campaign is buying, wheels are turning in DC to stop the export ‘pilot program’ down completely. It’s working! We should have an announcement soon. Meanwhile, though, “No burro left behind”!

    • Amanda, because the numbers tend to change some with people commiting to buy a certain number, and then either adding to that number, or reducing that number as they go through the process, it is not possible to state exactly how many still need homes. The number is ‘around 25’.

  4. Just lost my horse in May and he was a pasture buddy to my little donkey. My little donkey is all alone now and needs a buddy but I don’t think a BLM burro would work for me. Fence requirements, no money to purchase and no way to get one to me. I have a nice 3 and half acre pasture, nice stalls and would be loved so much. Our horse was 35 yrs old and buried in his pasture. I so wish I could help out but just don,t think it would be possible. I absolutely love burros! Congratulations to John Holland and his new burro friend!
