R.T. Fitch

R.T. Fitch’s life has been anything but ordinary. Straight out of high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force Band during the Vietnam era, and while stationed in Hawaii, he spent weekends at Sea Life Park training penguins, sea lions, and whales. His path through life has taken many unexpected turns—including more than a few lessons in love—until meeting his wife, Terry, brought a lasting partnership and a shared passion for animals.
Over the course of his adult career, R.T. worked internationally in multiple countries, gaining a broad, global perspective that colors both his worldview and his writing. Now rooted in Texas, he and Terry live on a small farm surrounded by four-legged companions with paws, claws, and hooves. Together, they have devoted years to equine rescue and wild horse protection.
An ordained volunteer chaplain and professional Santa Claus for a local historical society—with Terry by his side as Mrs. Claus—R.T. brings warmth, wisdom, and joy to every season. His work reflects a life of service, wonder, and connection to both people and animals.
He is the author of Straight from the Horse’s Heart, a moving collection of true rescue stories and spiritual reflections, and Fangs of Light, a supernatural tale steeped in symbolic and metaphorical storytelling. The first in a planned trilogy, Fangs of Light blends myth and mystery to explore themes of identity, redemption, and the power of empathy—offering readers not only suspense and intrigue but a deeper look at the light and shadow within us all.

Horse Eaters in EU Complain of Brazilian Horse Flesh Laced with Naproxen

“Sorry, can’t get upset over humans eating the flesh of companion animals and complaining about what sort of chemicals are in it. Horse carcasses from the U.S. are toxic to humans and now Brazil has drugs in meat not intended for human consumption. Just what are the poor European horse eaters to do? (I have an idea, it has something to do with that mysterious place where the sun never shines.)” ~ R.T.

Correction: BLM does NOT Agree to Increase Size of Pryor Mountain Herd

“Every now and then we get slightly burned by sharing unedited and supposedly informational articles which we ‘assume’ to be correct and concise. Of course, anything from the BLM directly is suspect from the git-go but from the mainstream media we expect better (even though the past election bias coverage should have sent the public screaming to the hills) but over the past two weeks we have been nipped twice and today we will try to rectify the most recent blooper.

Last week we shared an article that had the headlines that the BLM had increased the number of the wild horses allowed to live out their lives wild and free on the Pryor Mountains in Montana…but instead it has come to light that this is not true. Where that unedited headline came from we do not know but it did not originate from anyone who tends to SFTHH. So in an effort to clarify and bring our feet back to the ground it is the same business as usual at the BLM office in Billings Montana, under the direction of Jim Sparks, who IS currently taking comments on the current AML until the end of this week.

Included at the end of this unedited news articles are the comments of Ginger Kathrens of the Cloud Foundation and it is our hope that readers will take the time to respectfully request that Jim Sparks considers TCF’s recommendations prior to the conclusion of this week. You can make a difference.” ~ R.T.

Turning Horse Blood into Profits

“This story first appeared in ‘The Dodo’ back in October of 2015 yet it is bubbling back to the surface as of late. Several readers have been forwarding petitions and news snippets in an effort to help get the word out and we whole hardheartedly agree that this topic is something that we need to shine the light of day upon and chase away as an unacceptable practice within our contemporary society. Again, it is often a true embarrassment to carry the burden of the title ‘Human’ when such things have not an ounce of humanity within them. Keep the faith.” ~ R.T.
