by NN&V Staff of the Nevada News & Views Eureka rancher has received $674,591 for “Wildhorse/Burro Control Services” from BLM Independent American state senate candidate Janine Hansen charged today that Republican District 19 opponent Assemblyman Pete Goicoechea has a “startling conflict” in representing rural taxpayers after learning the […]
While trusting Americans calmly slept all snug in their beds dreaming of freedom, blue skies, green grass and the thundering of distance hooves the grotesquely distorted and immoral monster, known as the Department of the Interior (DoI), was plotting on collusive and divisive ways to kill off the national icon of American freedom and independence, the wild horses and burros of the western United States.
Ya gotta love it; you might not agree with why Louisiana Senator David Vitter is blocking former rancher, now Director of the Interior, Ken Salazar’s pay hike but you have to admire him for taking a stand and putting it all out on the table. The good Senator’s privates must clank when he walks because he sure is proving to be made of solid steel as he stands up against this current inept and do nothing administration. Vitter’s reason for denying the government’s Chief Wild Horse Hater from an increase in his salary can be summed up in one simple and to the point quote, “completely unsatisfactory” performance.
You too can submit your own comments regarding the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the White Mountain and Little Colorado Herd Management Areas (HMAs). There are gross inadequacies and faulty data utliized in the scope of this EA that need to be addressed and rectified before a roundup of these two herds should be allowed. If a roundup is conducted this summer, the two herds will be decimated to a total population of 274 horses on over 1 million acres! The Cloud Foundation’s comments for this EA are available online HERE. Read on for a sample format!
HOUSTON, (Horseback) – The federal Bureau of Land Management faces a burgeoning scandal that threatens to embroil to cabinet level agencies.
Three members of the agency’s Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board should have left their post on June 14, 2010, but continue to serve despite shady authority to have their terms extended until new members are appointed.
March 10th and 11th the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Advisory Board will be meeting at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, 340 N. 3rd Street , Phoenix, AZ 85004 to further cloud the facts and accelerate the demise of our national icons in accordance with the whims of the special interests that make up the board. This meeting, with your help, will not go quietly into the night.
Almost on a daily basis we are pummeled with the gory violence and unneeded bloodshed doled out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) upon our few remaining iconic wild horses. The shock and outrage of the American public is obvious but the BLM always manages to duck and weave with bad data, restricted access and devious PR but now it is out on the web, in bold print and documented. The first name, email address or handle that a BLM employee will give him/herself is ANIMAL ABUSER.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) continues to move forward with its legally challenged wild horse roundup of Colorado’s North Piceance wild horse herd and killed yet additional horses during alleged illegal activates, yesterday.
Rock Springs, WY (October 12, 2010)—Amid nationwide protests, today 122 more healthy wild horses were rounded up by helicopter in the Adobe Town/Salt Wells Wild Horse Herd Management Area Complex. The current three-day roundup total is 320, not including one mare who died on the run yesterday. The National Academy of Sciences will begin it’s Congressionally-requested investigation of the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) wild horse and burro program in 2011 but it will too late for the Red Desert herds without an immediate moratorium on roundups.
Yesterday we dropped a simple “tongue-in cheek” OpEd on our readers in an effort to bring in a little fresh air and to lighten the load, a bit, for those who work so hard to do the right thing for the horses. Lord knows we need it with all of the dark injustices that whirl around us and make us truly wonder at the direction our country is headed. But when I opened up the window and let the fresh air fill my lungs there was the slightest hint of rotten apples that lingered in my nose. I stepped back for a moment, looked around and verbalized:
“Who farted upwind?”
