HOUSTON, (Horseback) – Horseback Magazine’s persistent queries into the practices and lack of transparency at the federal Bureau of Land Management is getting under the skin of at least one highly placed official.
On September 13, 2010, the District Court of Idaho granted Advocates for the West a victory in an important case under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and ordered the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to disclose to the public basic information on its grazing program – including the names of livestock permittees authorized to grazing the public lands.
HOUSTON, (Horseback) – The record death toll for a federal Bureau of Land Management roundup has again risen with the demise of two more horses raising the count to 115. Specifically, 69 have died at the agency’s Fallon holding facility, 7 died at the site of the Caico roundup itself, and there have been 39 miscarried foals.
