Zeroing Out the Wild Horses is the Mission of the BLM and local “Grazing Association

In a continuation of their relentless persecution of the wild herds in Wyoming’s Red Desert, the BLM has posted a Scoping Notice for the roundup of the wild horses in the Great Divide Basin Herd Area in Wyoming. This is one of three herds that the Rock Springs Grazing Association hopes to completely zero out, removing all wild horses not only from the checkerboard areas of public and private lands but from all public lands as well.
This press release does not propose the complete zeroing out of the herd, but only proposes removing 164 horses at this time, but says that all horses will be removed from private lands. The document is remarkably vague:
“The BLM proposes to remove approximately 164 wild horses from the HMA. All wild horses on private lands in the checkerboard would be removed in conformance with the 2013 court ordered Consent Decree; some wild horses may be relocated north of the checkerboard. Excess wild horses in the remainder of the HMA would be removed to meet the low AML of 415. The proposed operation would possibly include fertility control.”
They MAY be relocated north of the checkerboard, they might POSSIBLY use fertility control. Why on earth would they not use fertility control unless the ultimate plan is to zero out the herd…(CONTINUED)

You might want to check into why after the Grazing Association has been trying to this for as long as I can remember, they suddenly get a judge to go along with it. Could it have something to do with the drilling leases slated for startup?

What has this world come to. They are a part of our American Culture. Any way to mess up America, this is no different than when they took the land from the Native Americans. Tragedy to the fullest, we need to RIDER ON WASHINGTON. Million Horsemen Ride in honor of the YEAR OF THE HORSE.

I am really starting to lose any perspective regarding these decisions to gather, hold and sterile or annilate every wild horse we have in this country. I have written letters and posted comments as we all gave yet I see no positive results. None of it makes any sense to me. It’s like all if a sudden these horses have become the most dangerous virus on the planet. Why????

The BLM is trying to play God but they are just playing devil’ advocate. They continue to round up wild horses for sterilzation and break family bands up. When will they listen? BLM leave the wild horses alone to be free. Hands off the wild horses. A message to the BLM “Stop playing God.”

Sent a comment – hit on all the points that Carol suggested. And suggested on Carol’s site – as she did – that the commenters there would email the BLM. There were many comments on Wild Hoofbeats – didn’t get the impression that they sent any to the BLM.

Politics! Its all politics, political.agenda, sound familiar????? Why do THEY get to use politics and cover stories but when a politician sides with is its wrong? I am sorry, but I firmly believe the Mustangs and their lands should be removed from the BLM to allow REAL HORSEPEOPLE AND ADVOCATES TO ACTUALLY MANAGE THEM. And helicopters would only take photos from then on!

I think Freedom Federation and others others should Petition Congress to be Allowed to be the Managers of the Horses and Remove the BLM from the supervision of them permanently.

The BLM will never pay any attention to anything any of us say. They have never considered the public such as us nothing but a nuisance that gets in their way. The only thing they are interested in is catering to the corporations that wants to install oil wells, fracking wells or anything the corporations want to do they back all of it including the politicians in these states. I wonder how the ranchers kept their cows from freezing to death in the cold or how the horses in the holding pens made out?
I doubt we will ever know but the blast of super cold air passed right through the states where most of the horses are at.

BLM land is multiple use. Unfortunately once the extraction industry decides to exercise their right to use, all others disappear.

Please leave the wild horses alone! They are part of the American west & deserve their freedom. What gives anyone the right to round them & put them in harms way? They don’t deserve this. Many will be injured or killed if this roundup takes place
