R.T. Fitch’s life has been anything but ordinary. Straight out of high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force Band during the Vietnam era, and while stationed in Hawaii, he spent weekends at Sea Life Park training penguins, sea lions, and whales. His path through life has taken many unexpected turns—including more than a few lessons in love—until meeting his wife, Terry, brought a lasting partnership and a shared passion for animals.
Over the course of his adult career, R.T. worked internationally in multiple countries, gaining a broad, global perspective that colors both his worldview and his writing. Now rooted in Texas, he and Terry live on a small farm surrounded by four-legged companions with paws, claws, and hooves. Together, they have devoted years to equine rescue and wild horse protection.
An ordained volunteer chaplain and professional Santa Claus for a local historical society—with Terry by his side as Mrs. Claus—R.T. brings warmth, wisdom, and joy to every season. His work reflects a life of service, wonder, and connection to both people and animals.
He is the author of Straight from the Horse’s Heart, a moving collection of true rescue stories and spiritual reflections, and Fangs of Light, a supernatural tale steeped in symbolic and metaphorical storytelling. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Billings Field Office today released the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Decision Record for a 2012 non-helicopter gather of wild horses within the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range (PMWHR). A 30-day appeal period will begin today and end on May 3, 2012. The EA analyzed the effects of the decision to conduct a non-helicopter gather to remove excess wild horses within the PMWHR. The field office received about 1,000 individual comment letters and 63 unique comments on the preliminary EA, and considered those in making the final decision.
Animal advocates from across the U.S. met in Oklahoma City and on-line Tuesday to talk about horse meat.
Horse slaughter is legal in the U.S. again, but they want to stop horse slaughter from happening here in Oklahoma.

Still smarting after a dismal on-air performance, or lack of engagement, by self-appointed anti-horse/pro-slaughter mouthpiece, Wyoming state Rep. $ue Wallis on a PBS/NPR radio station, last Friday, a handful of her followers have been sending emails and making public posts on social media attacking the station, the host and her guests with defamatory comments and hate speech with Wallis’ husband, Rod McQuery, leading the way by going on public record referring to the show’s participants and anyone who displays care and concern for American’s horses as being “Nazis”
“It’s Sunday and it has been a good week for the horses with the dark-side suffering multiple defeats and currently in hiding collectively licking some very deep wounds. But as the lost and confused wander without clear direction we move forward with purpose, dignity and truth as our shield. It is important for us to look around and re-energize ourselves not only with the strength of our numbers and great diversity but with the clear knowledge in our heart of why we fight for those who cannot speak for themselves, the horses.

Imagine, if you will, that hypothetically you found yourself in the position of representing a very unpopular cause but you pursued it as it meant great fame, even though it is all negative, and a bunch of money in your pocket and being that you have had a few iffy fiscal woes in the past you embrace the new found income source.
Chatham, N.Y. (EWA) – Horse experts from across the country will converge on Equine Advocates Rescue & Sanctuary in Chatham, New York for the 2012 American Equine Summit on Saturday, March 31st and Sunday, April 1st with one objective – to reverse the damage done by Congress in Nov. 2011 by mobilizing an effective grassroots movement to end the slaughter of America’s horses in the US and abroad. The attendees will be comprised of press, lawmakers and those involved with equine welfare and the horse industry. So, lets see, on this planet, we currently slaughter cows, pigs, chickens, lambs, baby cows (veal), goats, oh, and probably lamas somewhere and anything thing else that breaths, walks, eats, beats and craps…and eat it.
