The Humane Society of the United States applauds the New Jersey Senate for passing A.2023/S.1976, legislation that prevents the slaughter of horses for human consumption. The bill was approved by an overwhelming, bi-partisan majority vote of 35 to 4. It was introduced in the Assembly by Assemblyman Ronald Dancer, R- Cream Ridge and in the Senate by Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak, D-Union.
There are numerous horse-related magazines in Canada, some pro-horse and some pro-industry. It really shouldn’t be surprising that the concept of financial gain is pandemic in the world of horses, but somehow one wouldn’t expect the use of these beautiful, noble animals to extend to the flesh that their bodies can provide. Yet right here in Canada, some people who claim to love horses in their living state also seem to promote the profits that can be made from the deaths of their companions and working partners when their “useful” days are over.

Wild horse advocacy groups have filed court action seeking to head off what they fear could be an emergency wild horse roundup in northwest Colorado.
A take-charge donkey named Ellie is credited with saving three horses and another donkey from the wildfire burning in Fort Collins, CO after the couple boarding them was forced to evacuate.
Washington D.C., (WHFF) – On June 22nd, 2012 Wild Horse Advocacy groups filed an “Emergency Motion for Stay of Threatened Emergency Gather” against Director of the Department of the Interior (DoI) Ken Salazar and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in an attempt to “head off” what is believed to be an artificial emergency generated by the BLM in an effort to eradicate Colorado’s West Douglas Wild Horse Herd and by-pass on-going litigation to prevent the agency from doing same.
The BLM will continue its emergency gather of wild horses in the southern portion of the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area (HMA) following a court ruling Wednesday.

America’s wild horse herds are in peril of extinction, but award-winning equine photographer Carol Walker is ready with viable solutions in her new book, Galloping to Freedom: Saving America’s Wild Horses. Through a campaign at web-based fund-raising platform Kickstarter, Walker invites wild horse supporters to be “part of the solution” by helping her print and distribute this important guide to ensuring the future of our legacy animals.
