Recently, during the Antelope Complex stampede, the BLM reported that one of the horses that they had run for miles and miles in freezing temperatures had a gunshot wound to its upper left shoulder.
The mare was transferred to the holding facility and allegedly kept separate but according to the BLM the horse “spun around” and broke that same leg resulting in the horse being euthanized the following day.
The Bureau of Land Management announced today that the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board will hold a two-day meeting in Phoenix on March 10-11. The two-day event will take place at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, 340 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85004. (The hotel phone number for reservations is 1-800-325-3535.) The Thursday, March 10, meeting is set for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time; the hours of the Friday, March 11, meeting are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. The business agendas for the two days appear on page 7231 of today’s Federal Register (Wednesday, Feb. 9).
A sheriffs office is investigating if some of the actions in the Bureau of Land Management’s wild horse roundup are animal abuse. This investigation started the same day we aired a video– showing a helicopter pilot flying close to a horse in White Pine County. Brooke Boone has been working hard on this story… White Pine County Sheriff Dan Watts say his office received this video– shortly after it was taken on January 28th. After seeing the video, they began investigating if Sun J Livestock– the company hired by the Bureau of Land Management to round up horses in northern Nevada was committing animal cruelty.

The Wallis slaughter plant has been the subject of dozens of stories and in each it has been completely different. At first it was going to be a mobile slaughter truck that went around to various holding facilities like the Cheyenne Stock Yards (which Sue was “negotiating” to obtain). It was going to kill horses and feed the meat to prisoners and school children. The owners of the stockyards announced it would not be happening.

Campbell County Wyoming Attorney Jeani Stone released her findings on Wednesday.
Recent cases of animal cruelty and neglect in Montana are enough to make anyone angry or upset but one woman and a large crew of dedicated volunteers are working to make a difference in the lives of in-crisis animals every day.
Thank you for this opportunity to give input. I have reviewed the E.A. and am disturbed by the repeated arguments that I have read many times before as concerns “wild horse overpopulation,” “multiple use,” “thriving ecological balance,” etc. The employment of these terms to justify what you are planning to do to the wild horses makes a mockery of their true meaning.
