The Contest
Alex Brown Racing is sponsoring it’s second YouTube contest that will run from Tuesday, January 19 to Monday April 19 2010. We will offer a $1,000 prize, to be sent to the horse rescue organization of choice of the winning entry, as of Noon eastern time, April 19, 2010. All entries are to be completed, posted and approved, by Noon on Friday March 19, 2010.
Entrants must read and be familiar with the document: Deconstructing the Horse Slaughter Issue: Chapter Horse Slaughter.
The Rules
Anyone can enter, regardless of age and country of origin.
Each video is to be 1 – 4 minutes in length.
Each video discusses specific aspects of the horse slaughter issue as noted in the above document, whether it is to agree, reinforce or disagree with the issues noted in the document.
Each video must be without gory details, PG 13 please.
Each video must use the phrase “horse slaughter” in the title, and the video must be tagged with the phrase “horse slaughter”. The video should also be tagged with the phrase “ABR Video Contest”.
Each entrant (video producer) can produce as many videos as he or she desires.
Each entrant needs to add his or her videos to the ABR YouTube group and e-mail Wendy.
Wendy needs to approve each entrant for the contest prize via adding a comment to the video (see the rule re: no gory details).
To be eligible a video must be completed and posted by end of day, March 19, 2010 and must be new content as of January 19, 2010.
All submissions must comply with Youtube’s Copyright Infringement Policy:
“YouTube respects the rights of copyright holders and publishers and requires all users to confirm they own the copyright or have permission from the copyright holder to upload content. We comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable copyright laws and promptly remove content when properly notified. Determining the winner
The winner will be determined by multiplying the number of comments the video received, by the rating of the video. And then adding the number of views of the video. This calculation will be made at Noon eastern, April 19, 2010

It helps to get the truth out there, Mar. The average American does NOT have a clue on this issue and I firmly believe if we can get the pending bills passed it will slow down the BLM’s quest for more Mustangs. They do not, currently, sell the Mustangs to slaughter but a great number of their known “adaptors” do. Either way, the BLM can tout that they are making money when the $125 adoption fee does not cover the $4,000.00 it cost, per horse, to harass, maim and corral them. Their calculators work differently than ours as we are the ones paying the bills.

RT, I think that there are more elected people who are up on the equine slaughter issue than are up on the wild horses and burros and the roundups. But with the public it may be the opposite; they are learning about the wild horses but are not yet touched so much by the slaughter issue. Horse people need to be better informed also. I guess we are all trying. I do so want to stop the trucks hauling horses to our borders and see the roundup contractors in permanent retirement. mar

We need to expose the BLM for exactly what they are doing to our Wild Mustangs & burros’s. People these animals are running free on our land, not the greedy cattle ranchers. Have you seen the pictures of these animals? They are fat & happy, not once-have I seen a starving horse-the only ones I see starving and dying are the ones that they have ran to death with their helicopters.
The only people getting rich are the BLM, their greedy buddies who are penning these animals up, and the ones that are trucking them to Mexico & Canada where they are slaughtered for consumption in the EU(who are probably unaware of how that meat is getting to their tables). They are so afraid of getting mad cow disease over there that, they have increased consumption of our horses-what about all the pesticides our babies are getting before these animals are slaughtered?
The EU needs to wake up and realize what is really going on over here-it is a brutal and senseless way to manage a species to extinction. Leaving our public lands for the cattle ranchers leaseholds, the miners to exploit, and the Indians to make a few more bad deals.
This issue was supposed to be aired on Good Morning America, Saturday-but good old WSB-decided to share something else-people wake up and speak up for our horses, if not for us-then who will? Surely not the killer buyers, auction house bunch, nor the ones who transport illegally back & forth. Athey just pay the fines, and continue about their business-
Please help, sign all the petitions, that you are able to and spread the word about what is REALLY happening to our beloved mustangs!!
