This beautiful horse broke out (jumped the panel after capture at the trap) and stood by the jute… moving forward and back… forward and back… as his family loaded.
After the trailer (with his mares) went past him he shot up the hill behind us… then eyed the trap from the other side of the hill calling to the babies… he moved off as vehicles came in but stopped as a trailer came back up the road… and called to see if his family had come back.
Off in the distance you could see a chopper… he briefly headed toward the band being chased and then so very slowly… with head down… went down the road… and over the horizon.
I have seen thousands and thousand of horses loose everything they have. I don’t normally name them.

But this horse is “Allegiance.”
It is what he demonstrated and what we owe him.
I will edit video and get images together as soon as I can… but I am exhausted… have hours of tape and pics to log of over-driving, atrocious flying, BLM admits hotshot use and more.
As well as a few tears to shed tonight.
A local auto shop fixed my truck today even though I couldn’t pay… he said to bring the money when I get it… but to get out to the range and keep an eye on “our” horses….
Tears for many reasons tonight… these people that live here love these horses… but they are not a mine or ranching interest… they are just people that read the local paper and live their lives in this hard, but beautiful place… and cherish the ideals of Freedom and survival that “our” horses represent.

Tears roll down my face as I read this sad story. I am obsessed with the wild horses and burros. BLM if you happen to monitor this site just know, I/we are not going away. This is a fight to the end! I just entered my mother into Hospice here at home. In all her pain and illness she still says” GIVE THE BLM HELL! DON”T STOP TILL THE HORSES ARE FREE! Love you guys for all that you do. I make all the calls, send letters and tell everyone I see what is going on with the horses then I say go tell 10 others.

One of the last gifts my father gave me was a bale of timothy for my wild horse friend. He was very sick, but this gift was a wonderful way of showing that he understood what she meant to me. This was during the hay shortage a few years ago when no one was giving up their hay sources, but Dad’s barber came up with the bale so he’d have it to give.

I can only feel their pain and that is not enough. I feel as though we have let them down because it seems that there is nothing that we can do. They are
not even afforded the right of a fair trial or hearing because all of these people are so corrupt. I can only keep calling and calling my Legislators to stop this
total madness. You are right we have our own holocaust right in our backyard.
Its too bad our news media are so corrupt also because this should certainly
be news worthy. For those present, are you sending the pictures to our Legislators, they must be afforded the opportunity to view this total madness!

Pregnant mares and babies and bands being run over 10 miles and foals injured and killed and stallions calling for their families … same abuse, different day (or different year or different HMA or different state or different herd or different foal or different contractor or different temperature or different pilot or different field office or different herd band) … but same animal abuse.

Tears and hugs for you, Laura. I don’t know how you do it. Its the ones that fight the most that make me cry the most. I feel HIS heart breaking, too. At least now he has a chance at freedom- even if its only a little while longer. He looks so noble… how can man be so cruel?
I really hate those b*stards and I do not feel hatred often or use the word freely. But these people deserve a special place in hell.

I am crying too. Why, oh, why doesn’t Congress pay attention to the plight of the wild horses? While I realize that there are many things to be considered in the running of government, I do not understand why they cannot put an end to these costly and inhumane roundups. Wouldn’t you think that due to the outrageous costs of these roundups/murders they could say no to the BLM? The cattle and sheep lobbyists must be very persuasive and they simply want the horses to be gone. Plainly said, the horses must go is the way they look at it and let’s face it, money talks.

This moves me as well…. I wish I had the answers to how to help them. I have gone on gatherings by the BLM in my area and I do understand that herds are being broken up and separated. I am concerned as well and am trying to learn more about this. I photograph these horses and have fallen in love with their spirit.

There is nothing , nothing as pitiful as the cries and calls horses make to find their mares and mares to find their mate, their cries will will melt your heart, i damn the BLM for putting them through that….. i pray to GOD that we will get them back their Freedom, and the BLM is damned to hell for all they have tortured them……………………………..If their is Justice I am praying we find it soon very soon, i feel their pain…………….. I have asked for us to Make a stand for them, I am believing that it would be the only way to save them……………. As I am sure everyone has heard that the new Director of the Wild Horse and Burro Program is Joan Guilfoyle. I just called and spoke with her to wish her good luck in her new role that starts on August 15. When I introduced myself as a Mustang “lover” she said that she had someone in her office and wasn’t in the role as yet. I told her I was simply calling to wish her the best and hoped that she would be able to make some needed changes. I assured her that the “Mustang lovers” were not (ALL) nut cases and that we just wanted what was best for the horses. She said that she wanted that as well – she is a horse person!
So it’s a new day with new leadership. So lets give her a chance. Next Monday when she’s officially on the job how about we take the time to give her a call or sent her an e mail – wishing her well.!!!!!

Those who are terrorizing, stampeding, killing, separating families, participating in inhumane and lengthy transporting, unhealthy captivity without monitoring and without proper care and knowledgeable assessment, allowing selling for slaughter, robbing the citizens of this country of their rights as citizens and of their laws that were issued to protect what is valuable and also their benefits and most important, what is important to them as individuals and as a freedom loving country!

Laura, you have endured just as much sorrow in witnessing this hauntingly beautiful stallion, aptly named Allegiance, as he has endured after breaking free and watching his family taken away by the enemy, like prisoners in war.
It must hurt him so to NOT KNOW why his mares and children left his side, to NOT KNOW where they are going, and to NOT KNOW if they will ever be back. How can he ever be happy? How can he ever feel at peace? His broken heart shatters all of our hearts.
Your description of him, your photo of him, and your pledge to the liberty and freedom which have been heartlessly, needlessly stripped from him should be written up in every newspaper, print and online, in the land. The land that was once called the home of the free, the home of the brave. The land that is now the home of the greedy plunderers, the home of the inhuman predators.
My prayer is that the LIBERTY and FREEDOM that are embedded in the soul of every sentient being will break out of the chains that bind them, assert their right to be lived and breathed, and send those robbers of LIBERTY and FREEDOM spiraling into the oblivion from whence they came.
Bless the wild horses and burros, bless those fighting to save them, and bless everyone who stands up for the rights of LIBERTY and FREEDOM for ALL peoples of all nations, including the animal peoples who inhabit our beautiful planet Earth.

My eleven year old son knows those foals aren’t deformed. Their injurys are from the panic stricken run from the helicopter and it’s sadistic pilot.

Laura, the tears that I have shed for the horses rivals the tears that I have shed for you, and the pain that I know that you endour to bring these stories to the “outside” world must be horriffic. As I have said in the past, thank you will never be enough, but you are making a difference. You help me, help you. I share these images with all that will listen. I cry with each painful image. As for this photo, it is just another instance of how horrible humans can be. If these were animals creating such havoc..we would put them down. Since they are humans, we will pay them with money that we don’t have, and call it for the best….

Lau ra: I do not know how you do this, as well. May God always be looking over your shoulder. I’m crying for this beautiful animal and the loss of his family and not knowing why they are gone. I hope he doesn’t end up in the same situation. If they do get him, I hope he sees his family again and they can stay together. I say this all the time that I wish I had the funds to somehow buy a huge number of acres and lease them, like Madeleine Pickens, and I would be gathering these horses as fast as I could. I would also be buying land to stop those going to slaugher and fund a large rescue, and I do mean LARGE. Somehow God has not seen fit to help me in saving his beautiful icons and I like many of you do not understand why he doesn’t stop this killing field of his creations. What we do know is that you can’t believe a thing the BLM says and you have to watch every move they make. WE need to be one step behind them at all times so we can catch them every time they make a mistake. Let’s hope it comes real soon before we have no wild horses and burros to love and cherish.

a mile square 640 acres in nevada is still well under 100k.(and surrounded by miles of ‘public land’).so wish several people could band together and buy up 10 miles..100 miles square somewhere. we’d have to all learn to live together like some wild horses and people commune. maybe we could start a new religion and get all the tax breaks from that, use federal grants to religions to pay for everything. If political figures can start ‘religious charities’ then why can’t we 🙂

please Laura, our gov is currently focused a lot on twitter. please tweet these little bits of blm-hot-shotted horses, horses up to bellies in muck, sick horses,dead horses, shot old horses, lame foals, blm directed authorised bad things..they don’t like to be exposed, the blm have shown that. And here is the letter that I wrote to Ms. Kindall. Will she read it? Will she respond? NO.. Her headstrong decisions are protected by the GREEDY.
Dear Ms. Kindall,
I oppose in the strongest terms the BLM’s plans to once again disturb the small band of horses located in the Pryor Mountain HMA.
The Band of Horses known as “Cloud’s Herd”.
1. It is totally unnecessary as the number of horses is totally sustainable with almost 200,000 acres of land. Your predictions of their starvation is very overestimated, and soon the horses will once again have the right to the land that the BLM has taken from them for profit centered uses.
2. The number of 135 horses with human intervention into their breeding as you have proposed will ultimately make the genetic make up of the herd unsustainable.
3. The herd is used as a tourist incentive for the State, and it will disappear.
4. The BLM has just intercepted almost 50 horses being taken illegally to slaughter. Our many protection organizations have been showing you proof of this over and over with photographs of your branded horses in Slaughter Plants in Mexico and Canada. Now the BLM must acknowledge the truth also.
5. The Roundups are inhumane and dangerous to the survival of the horses (see attached below).
6. The public outcry when we distribute the information that once again this fabulous Band of Horses (Cloud’s Herd) is under attack and seems to be singled out in retaliation for the huge public support that it has received. Why not use this to the advantage of the BLM and curtail some of the other operations going on in this HMA.
Today’s report from an observer of the Round-up. These are todays pictures and are the ones that are going to the public. The truth is bad to look at, but necessary, as the BLM’s whitewashed version is only a predetermined pact of lies.

This is just an idea! If you choose to follow someone on twitter who is interested in the wild ones, say Monty Roberts for example, someone with a big following then tweet, whatever story you want to highlight, and ask them to retweet it and it will go to all his followers and all their followers will hopefully retweet . Get a few of these high profile tweeters and maybe it will soon get round. Just a thought.
I would just like to say that I follow all I can regarding these wild horses and do all I can with my tweeting but am in UK so can only help from afar but I really feel the pain of these precious souls and wish I could do more. I’m always tweeting BLM but they just come out with all their lies, excuses and coverups. They appear totally blind to all they do, it’s like hitting your head against a brick wall.
There are many petitions which I cannot do as I don’t have a US address and that applies to sending letters to any congressmen, which is such a pity as it would make me feel that I have done as much as I can from this end. I feel for you all because it is happening in your own country and I can see that these beautiful animals will end up like the buffalo and Native Americans, it really is a sad state of affairs.

Such unspeakable slime, I mean the BLM “equine specialists” and chain of command all the way to the top. Not to mention the brain-dead sub-human contractors that for the most part are the action boots on the ground (or in the helicopters) for these on-going despicable debacles. All are guilty of felony cruelty to animals and grand theft of the taxpayers’ dollars they feed on to conduct their sickening operations. Thousands of us have been calling, writing, faxing, emailing, you name it, to the BLM and our reps in congress. Some have been able to produce television programs that get a lot of public attention, briefly. A few big name entertainers and other celebrities have spoken out but the main stream press doesn’t find that as noteworthy as which little starlet just got sent to drug re-hab or just got out of jail or who just broke up with who and so on.
The years of sacrifice and courageous photographing, videotaping, recording, often in the face of hostile BLM “security” thugs or stampede contractors and in spite of extremes of heat and cold weather, have sometimes hindered but has not stopped them. The same is true of the numerous lawsuits that have been filed and are proceeding through the court system with the blazing speed of a herd of snails on a frosty morning.
My rep in congress has responded to my calls and letters with typical D.C. double speak and platitudes about being concerned for the safety and humane treatment of the horses then regurgitates the BLM supplied BS on range carrying capacity, equine populations and reproduction rates, and the “need” to properly manage, etc., with implied promises to pay close attention – blah – blah – blah. Meanwhile the BLM charges full speed ahead with no holds barred in their intentional destruction of these irreplaceable NATIVE equine living beings. It has become increasingly apparent the government will continue to ignore our voices and the will of the people on this matter. I must agree with Arlene (above) that it looks like it is going to take a ‘huge event’ to get their attention and convince them they cannot continue with impunity without at least some of them paying a high price for their crimes.

Hello Wambli okiye, so awesome to see you back again, for 8 yrs I have watched in horror the Plight of the Mustang,they have had to endure such unnecessary cruelty, Quite frankly I am so sick of it……………….and most of all I am sick and tired of the BLM, have they no boundaries in this scenario????? The mustangs right to be here to flourish is being assaulted daily is there no end, the means to an end is right here, it has been here all the time, we must do something that is huge, they understand nothing else, nothing short of a stand for them will do, we can talk, fax write email till we are blue in the face, bottomline the Mustangs will continue to be unlawfully assaulted and suffer these people need to be rudely awakened a plan must be set , America is being watched by the world in this matter, and they have voiced there distress , and there heartfelt sympathy for the Mustangs, we have to collectively decide how much longer are we going wait , ???? How much more do the innocent Mustangs need to suffer?????? isnt the corruptness of the BLM enough???? They waste important tax dollars which could be used elsewhere !!!! WE OWE THE MUSTANGS THEIR FREEDOM of that there is no question…………………. The Mustangs cannot wait for a Miracle , they need our help now !!!!
