FMCSA finds company reincarnation of out-of-service truck company
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation‘s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has ordered Tennessee-based truck company Terri’s Farm to immediately cease all interstate transportation services based on evidence that it was a chameleon operation for an unsafe truck company previously shut down by the agency.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. “Truck companies that choose not to operate safely have no place on our nation’s roadways.”
Following a thorough review of the company’s operations, FMCSA shut down Terri’s Farm after finding that it was operating the same vehicles, and maintaining the same operational and safety management structure as former horse transporter Three Angels Farms.
On June 29, 2012, FMCSA ordered Three Angels Farms, its officers and vehicles out of service after safety investigators found multiple safety infractions that substantially increased the likelihood of serious injury to the traveling public. Among the findings, investigators discovered that the company permitted its drivers to operate commercial motor vehicles without commercial driver’s licenses and did not conduct proper controlled substances testing of its drivers. Additionally, during the past eight months, the former Three Angels Farms had two accidents involving poorly maintained vehicles and fatigued or disqualified drivers, which resulted in the deaths of four horses.
“Today’s action is another step toward raising the bar for commercial vehicle and roadway safety,” said FMCSA Administrator Anne S. Ferro. “It sends a strong and important message that companies who attempt to evade safety regulations by reincarnating will be found and removed from the road.”
In keeping with the department’s commitment to safety, on May 31, as the result of a year-long investigation, FMCSA announced that it had shut down 26 commercial motorcoach operations, declaring them imminent hazards to public safety. This action was the largest single crackdown in the agency’s history. Over the last several years the Department of Transportation has taken aggressive efforts to strengthen motorcoach safety and enforcement, doubling the number of inspections of the nation’s estimated 4,000 passenger bus companies.

Have you ever noticed that everything and everyone involved with or associated with horse slaughter is tied up in illegal activities or at least involved in scandal, it’s as if the act of killing and consuming companion animals acts as a magnet to lower human life forms.
Everything about it is dirty, revolting and many times, illegal.

Yes, and towns considering horse slaughter plants need to realize this. That it is an illusion that these plants create good jobs. They are the lowest of the low jobs that attract lowlifes and crime to communities. All so foreign companies can profit. So not worth it. And also, anyone who complains about big government and how it is taking away your freedom and ruining your life–this is government in action. Shutting down unsafe operations. Cut govt funding, these kinds of lowlife businesses proliferate even more and cruelty goes unchecked.

Brilliant observation RT, absolutely ironic isnt it , that something that shows its pride courage innocence , and perfection is plagued by the lowest of the low in our society, one only has to look and know who they are !! Everything dirty is exposed right before our eyes so easily !!!!

Exactly, which is why horse slaughter could never be humane. Anyone who could do such an act humanely would refuse to do it; therefore, only the very worst elements in human kind are involved in this in any way.

Certainly doesnt look like anything to do with slaughtering horses attracts compassionate, caring decent human beings, does it? But then any compassionate, caring decent person would probably do anything to avoid being drawn in to this business.
If every one of the 80% who does not approve of horse slaughter was aware of exactly how brutal it is – possibly we could put a stop to it.
It really amazes me that such a large percent of the horses going to slaughter are quarter horses.
How can any organization make their members believe thats right? The whole idea of having slaughter available for the “old & crippled” – to get rid of their “culls” just makes me furious.
Good job RT – glad at least this yahoo is getting stopped for the moment. I’m sure he will make another attempt before long.

Yes Yes Yes! Keep up the good work. Some day it will hopefully be impossible for those bastards to move the horses as freely as they do to the slaughter houses

Yes, I’m concerned about the welfare of the horses at least one of which seemed so young.

nothing is changed they were shut down because they were transporting horses in unsafe trucks, not because they were slaughtering horses, you can be sure they will find a legal way to transport then to slaughter what difference they will still be killed .

Yes, Elaine…it wasn’t about the horses.
However, it will cost and slow down the killers because these scum operate on such a thin margin of profit. The killhouses are the ones that make the oodles of money. They screw everything they have contact with…from beginning to end: equine to consumer.
I heard on another blog that there is another bute positive in Europe. Good…more bad press for the killers and soon these consumers will stop importing horseflesh from the US via Canada and Mexico….maybe anything Canada and Mexico.

Our Senate is too gutless to even bring the anti-slaughter bills to the floor for a vote. The only way to at least slow this down is to remove the profit margin. They will go where the money is. One important thing is for the govt to actually collect the fines they impose. If not shut freeze their bank accounts or confiscate and sell assets. Although who would buy any of these trucks? Fines mean nothing if there is not aggressive collecting.
