Everyone should go to this website in the UK and leave a comment, I don’t know if it is up or not.

There are comments telling each other not to eat horse meat from the US because of the drugs.
Some of these people are wising up. I left a comment. But they don’t seem to know that US horses are being shipped from the US live to Canada/Mexico for slaughter. I think it is spreading all over the EU about the drugged up US horses.

All these horses and burros…why breed minis? Seriously.
Great..good moment. In the meantime, this is akin to dog breeds (and even in the performance equine world like TB racehorses) that turn out mutants that are a serious problem like toy and small breeds, German Shepherds, et al.
I am sorry…but I don’t get joy in the genetic spirit of equines or canines when they have been mutilated by Man.
God didn’t make this mess…but we are here to clean up Man’s mess….EVERYDAY.
I’m all for joy, in any place. This is not it. Sorry RT. I respect you and I know it is not what you want your readers to think. I get it. It didn’t work for me.
I’m still responding to Doink’s krap.
Seriously, forgive me for my sort sightedness. Any port in a storm….I think of the mustangs and burros in the storm; and the US equines still crossing the borders to final hell.

Denise, I don’t know you. But I read your comments and at first thought, ” Why can’t this person just see the humor in this shared video?” Then I read all the way down and realized you were expressing so many things I’ve already thought. I’ve seen the sad results of genetic modification through unnecessary and thoughtless breeding practices and I’m haunted by what will happen to horses crossing borders into unregulated slaughter houses. You spoke some of my thoughts. You have the courage to speak out because you care. I do not doubt that. But I think we have to be grateful for the huge efforts put forth by good people who have gotten us this far. It was no small achievement. I commend all who care enough to feel the pain of this dire situation and I commend all who step up to the plate and get things done.

Here it is in 2014 there are over 200 different equine breeds all over the world and these breeds include the miniature horse. All are members of Equus caballus. The scientifically credentialed ideologue with no deep understanding of science claimed that the horse that existed in North America after the last glacial maximum was a different horse that was not like the horse of today. There are remains of horses that are believed to belong to the oldest horses that lived here in the Eocene that may be similar in size to this horse. What genetic testing has show is that while human beings have bred horses for different traits, human beings have not been able to put traits into horse genetics that were not there. Genetic mutation is horses is much slower than anyone once thought. Equus caballus has lived in North America for almost two million years and comes in so many size, shape, and other variations that it is hard to get your mind around it. But no one has bred a turquoise horse, but God did not include turquoise on the menu. This is probably because being turquoise would interfere with the horse’s ability to survive.
I don’t know anything about how human controlled dog breeding but I imagine that there are some aspects that are similar to how species and subspecies evolve, but I do agree that these miniature or tea cup size dogs don’t seem natural. Yet, if a breeder found two small dogs that carried the recessive genes for these traits, they could create a miniature dog. Not so sure about the horse, since small horses appeared prior to human presence.
While I understand your concerns Denise and know they come from the best part of your heart, this video was about a few moments during a class or a warm up of a show. I didn’t see any uptight humans or horses that did not appear ready to go with the flow. Humans that love horses often enjoy getting together with other humans and their horses to show them, and no matter what our personal philosophy is about why animals are here or whether they should have rights or not, the truth is that the best way to make a world better for animals is to make a world where people can have a place to come together with others for wholesome family fun that includes other people having wholesome fun with their animals.

A lot of good sense in what you’ve shared. I commend people who care enough to share the joy. Yet, with horses, dogs and any other domesticated species, it should be said that caution needs to be taken when people apply their abilities to breeding for specific traits. I saw nothing wrong with the video and thought it was quite fun. However, just as pause for thought, I’ve seen the devastating consequences of life for dwarfed and deformed mini’s. There was nothing I could do for them, except bless their souls, help with some good care, and just give them a voice as in this comment. I do not doubt your good intentions. I don’t think any of us would be here unless we had them too.

Just for FYI
Historically, the Horse is the symbol of power, so it is only natural that the Year of the Horse has been chosen as one of the symbols of the Chinese Zodiac. Seventh in the cycle of the Zodiac, the Horse years are: 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990 and 2002.
There is much to understand about the amazing Horse. When he decides to kick up his heels, it can be a fantastic ride for everyone within range. Friends and strangers alike will easily fall under the sway of the Year of the Horse individual.
If you are acquainted with any Horse people, be sure to recognize their skills because they love flattery. Generally Horses display many contradictions of personality, so you will have to study them for a while before understanding them completely. They are proud, but sweet tempered, conceited yet humble. The trick is in the knowing.
Year of the Horse People
Come—meet the Horse natives. Their captivating attributes are many. They are pleasant, have an easy-going disposition and have many friends, probably because they know how to put people at ease and are blessed with good humor. Best of all, if you befriend a Horse person, it won’t ever be boring.
Horse person is an extrovert and possesses a quick wit, so he is normally the life of the party. One thing to be mindful of, though, is people born during the Zodiac Year of the Horse are frank, direct people. Sometimes their frankness is tactless. Most times the Horse realizes this too late and although contrite, the person on the receiving end is often unable to forgive what he has perceived as an insult.

Hunterdon 4-H members visit rare Marwari horses at Hopewell Township farm
Two rare Marwari horses have taken up residence in Mercer County to be trained by Dr. Maria Katsamanis.
This rare Indian breed, whose ears form a heart shape, numbers only about 900 animals in its native land.
There are currently less than 35 Marwaris outside of India. Most of them reside now in the United States, Spain and Oman. The status around exportation from India is a tentative issue and one that is on-going. The Marwari are part of the old world of horse mythology and folklore. One of the oldest breeds in existence, the Marwari bring a legacy of unforgettable appeal and tradition to horsemanship. They were reserved for the Rajastani nobility, and were the war horse of the Maharaja. In historical documents there were accounts of these horses lunging at elephants during battle. Their loyalty and fearlessness was legendary.
Their numbers diminished during the era of British rule, according to Katsamanis, a clinical psychologist and horse trainer. “The British didn’t want to use Marwari horses. They didn’t want the heart-shaped ears,” she said, adding that the breed almost became extinct.
