SEAN PATON, a freelance writer and journalist, radio host (Forum Antilles) and active environmentalist, who lived on Bonaire for 12 years, is founder of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) BICEPS BONAIRE (Bonaire Island Coastal & Environmental Protection Society) and BICEPS WORLDWIDE.

It’s absolutely incredible. The laws need to be changed right away to reflect current conditions. What may have been done to assist ranchers and energy companies in the beginning of their industries in the past does not apply today. What a den of thieves, our government too for allowing it.

It’s important that people are paying attention to what is happening to the Burros in Bonaire.
One gets the feeling that there are those who would like to see them quietly disappear.
Bonaire is a beautiful vacation spot with cruise ships coming in on a regular basis. Could it be that there are plans for more development…plans which don’t include Wild Burros?
