For over a year, Marjorie has been investigating the situation at the Black Mountain HMA in Arizona, and alerted the public that the BLM, catering to developers of wind, gas, and agriculture, threatened to roundup many of the few remaining wild burros.  Recently, there has been an even bigger threat: the Mojave County Supervisors recklessly suggested selling hunting permits to shoot the wild burros.  Find out the latest details in this update.

  1. The Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Wild Burro environmental assessments are always aimed at eliminating or zeroing out the wild horses and burros in favor of increased development and recreational use, mining, and cattle, but in a recent court case, The Court concluded, to wit:
“It would be anomalous to infer that by authorizing the custodian of the wild free roaming horses and burros to “manage” them, that Congress intended to permit the animals’ custodian to subvert the primary policy of the statute by capturing and removing from the wild the very animals that Congress sought to protect from being captured and removed from the wild.”

  2. Have you all seen the current “news” regarding the Bundy mess at the wildlife refuge? Cant comprehend why this bunch was allowed to continue for over 3 weeks. And one of the news articles headlines was: that Finicum (?) had fostered 50 children? Thats relevant how?? I also cant wrap my head around the fact that these so-called ranchers are able to be gone from home all this time! Whos doing the scut work back there?

  3. I just wish I could rescue all of them. I do have one donkey from the BLM. I adopted her in 2006 with a yearling mustang. They can be maddening at times. But they are sweethearts most of the time. 🙂
