R.T. Fitch

R.T. Fitch’s life has been anything but ordinary. Straight out of high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force Band during the Vietnam era, and while stationed in Hawaii, he spent weekends at Sea Life Park training penguins, sea lions, and whales. His path through life has taken many unexpected turns—including more than a few lessons in love—until meeting his wife, Terry, brought a lasting partnership and a shared passion for animals.
Over the course of his adult career, R.T. worked internationally in multiple countries, gaining a broad, global perspective that colors both his worldview and his writing. Now rooted in Texas, he and Terry live on a small farm surrounded by four-legged companions with paws, claws, and hooves. Together, they have devoted years to equine rescue and wild horse protection.
An ordained volunteer chaplain and professional Santa Claus for a local historical society—with Terry by his side as Mrs. Claus—R.T. brings warmth, wisdom, and joy to every season. His work reflects a life of service, wonder, and connection to both people and animals.
He is the author of Straight from the Horse’s Heart, a moving collection of true rescue stories and spiritual reflections, and Fangs of Light, a supernatural tale steeped in symbolic and metaphorical storytelling. The first in a planned trilogy, Fangs of Light blends myth and mystery to explore themes of identity, redemption, and the power of empathy—offering readers not only suspense and intrigue but a deeper look at the light and shadow within us all.

Hay ‘Bale Out’ for Habitat for Horses

HOUSTON – There’s help for horses this week and a bit of relief for their owners during the record setting drought.

They’re getting a hay “bale out” from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The ASPCA announced today that a total of $250,000 is being granted to 24 equine welfare organizations and animal control agencies across Texas and Oklahoma.

Equine Terrorists Fabricate Untruths to Promote Eating Horses

Chicago (EWA) – In a press release today titled “Equine Scientists Debunk Horsemeat Health Risk Claims”, United Horsemen (UH), an extremist pro horse slaughter group, cited a letter from four equine instructors ostensibly written to the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology complaining about the accuracy of the landmark study that found that the meat derived from horses administered the carcinogen phenylbutazone (PBZ/bute) is being shipped to the European Union for human consumption.

Wyoming Equine Terrorist Pumps Public with Preposterous Propaganda

Sue Wallis recently released talking points for supporters to use with their legislators. Talking points should be concise but more importantly, accurate. Apparently, Sue Wallis did not get the memo on the latter. Not only are they inaccurate but she can’t keep her lies straight, particularly when it comes to numbers. It is not wise to disprove your own statements. She not only shoots herself in the foot but continues reloading and shooting over and over again.

Polls and Petitions Reflect America’s Humane Love for Equines

CHICAGO, (EWA) – In a spate of national polls targeting Congress, support for ending horse slaughter is holding steady on Popvox in the mid to upper 70 percentile with 79 percent favoring a slaughter ban on the house bill and 76 percent opposing slaughter on the senate bill. The results continue a decade long trend against the killing of horses for human consumption even though slaughter proponents had a significant head start on the poll and on legislative monitor sites. In poll after poll numbers have held steady in the 70 percentile range.

Anti-Horse Wyoming Politician Promotes Fraud Against President and Congress on Facebook

Long time equine terrorist and pro-horse slaughter extremist, Wyoming State Rep. Sue Wallis, crossed the line on Saturday when she publicly urged her few Facebook followers to fraudulently use false names when signing a preposterous pro-horse slaughter petition on President Obama’s White House website. Fanatical while swimming upstream against a 70% public disdain for killing and eating a companion animal “Slaughterhouse” Sue encourages all to use the names of others to sign a petition that fact, science and public opinion stand strongly against.

NY Times Wild Horse Flap Gallops On

As an advocate for wild equines, I take issue with the tone and perceptions presented in the article written by Phil Taylor, published 9/20/11.

There is an assumption that those who advocate for wild horses and burros are simple reactionaries, that opinions are based strictly on heart-felt sympathies for an unwanted species of wild creatures, that knowledge is lacking in equines, wildlife, range ecology or economics. And that assumption would be wrong.

Desperate Wyoming Horse Eater Shows Her Burro In Illogical and Inhumane Rant

We have done our level best, as of late, in avoiding the urge to out and further expose the depravity of Wyoming State Representative “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis and her mindless lapdog Dave “Doink” Duquette. I sincerely do not want to be the agent that gives these despicable excuses for human beings any more press or notoriety than they deserve, which in reality should be none. But news is news and after spending the bulk of the past week listening to professional, educated (how far did you make it up the scholastic ladder Sue, baby?) and noted equine experts decry the inhumane, bloody and predatory act of horse slaughter at the IEC I just cannot let this crap slip by without either comment or publication. It is without a doubt, fuel for the fire of truth, integrity and higher morale standards.
