Embattled BLM Director Refuses to Speak With Horseback Magazine

HOUSTON, (Horseback) – Let’s see now, we’ve been attempting to get an on the record interview with federal Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey since at least August. 2009. With every attempt, and there must have been at least ten of them, Horseback has been rebuffed. It isn’t as if we have been idle covering the agency’s treatment of the wild horses in its charge. I suspect we’ve probably done more stories than any other news organization, with the possible exception of veteran Las Vegas broadcaster George Knapp.

Wild Horses, China and a Holiday called Thanksgiving

For the purpose of security and for the element of surprise it is rare that I disclose the actual geographical location of my person. The requirement of the income stream that pumps the life blood into my family’s survival and funds the message of the horses regularly sends me to the four corner of the world for extended periods of time. For many years the continent of Africa was my home away from home but by the luck of the draw I now find myself behind the great wall of China, or should I rephrase that to say the great ‘Firewall’ of China.

BLM Employee “Animal Abuser” Issues Email from BLM.gov

Almost on a daily basis we are pummeled with the gory violence and unneeded bloodshed doled out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) upon our few remaining iconic wild horses. The shock and outrage of the American public is obvious but the BLM always manages to duck and weave with bad data, restricted access and devious PR but now it is out on the web, in bold print and documented. The first name, email address or handle that a BLM employee will give him/herself is ANIMAL ABUSER.

Re-Elected Wyoming Horse Eater Plans Slaughter Gala

Here we go, again. Less than a week after retaining her seat in the Wyoming state house, Rep. “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis and her faithful sidekick Dave Duquette are brewing another big pot of steaming hot horse crap in an effort to mislead and dupe the American public over facts surrounding the predatory business of horse slaughter in the United States.

One Little Foal Step at a Time

It’s been a tough month for Wild Horse Advocates, even tougher for the horses. Months of legal planning had been mapped out by the HfH Advisory Council in an effort to stop four, specifically targeted BLM roundups from occurring. Two of those were postponed by a year, one directly due to our efforts. But the other two went forward, one struggle even made it to court. Did we make any progress? Were the horses helped in anyway? To put it mildly; “You bet ya!”
