EWA and Animal Law Coalition Call for Federal Investigation into BLM Covert Wild Horse Roundup

CHICAGO, (EWA) – On June 23, 2010, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Elko District office buried on its website a notice that approximately 175 “abandoned, domestic, estray” horses located within Pilot Valley, NV, were scheduled for impoundment beginning June 25. The round up was expected to take 3 – 4 days with corrals set up on nearby private land owned by Simplot Land and Livestock until the horses could be transported and placed under the jurisdiction of the State of Nevada.

The smell that almost turns you stomach yet it’s masked just enough to keep you from retching. That’s the feeling I get whenever I read a comment made from anyone affiliated with the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro program.

Ken Salazar Appoints Bob Abbey from Morally Bereft BLM to repair “Corrupt” MMS

It’s Sunday, May 30, 2010 and thousands of barrels of oil are continuing to gush into the Gulf of Mexico while tens of thousands of native, wild horses are languishing and dying in concentration camp style pens out west. What do these two disasters have in common; Secretary of Interior (DOI) Ken Salazar and Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bob Abbey.
