The Bureau of Land Management‘s National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board will be meeting in Sparks on Monday, December 7, at John Ascuaga’s Nugget, 1100 Nugget Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The full meeting agenda is published in the November 10, 2009, Federal Register on page 58044. This document also includes information about BLM public comment procedures.
The meeting is open to the public and there will be time alloted for speakers to address the Advisory Board. People wanting to make a statement should register by noon at the meeting room in the Nugget. The public will have a chance to comment starting about 3 p.m. and, depending on the number of speakers, may be limited to three minutes. BLM defined rules for speakers are as follows: “Speakers must submit a written copy of their statement to the BLM at the meeting; those who would like to comment but are unable to attend may submit a written statement no later than close of business December 2, 2009, to: National Wild Horse and Burro Program, WO-260, Attention: Ramona DeLorme, 1340 Financial Boulevard, Reno, Nevada, 89502-7147. Comments may also be e-mailed to: Ramona_DeLorme@blm.gov. Those submitting comments electronically should include the identifier ‘WH&B’ in the subject of their message and their name and address in the body of the message.”
The National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board provides information and advice to the BLM regarding its responsibilities under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. For more information about the meeting, contact Ramona DeLorme, Wild Horse and Burro Administrative Assistant, at (775) 861-6583. Laura Leigh spoke to Ramona this morning and because of the email issues several experienced yesterday, they will be accepting comments today (that’s THURSDAY, 3 DECEMBER) to include in the package. Please send them ASAP as she did not give a cut-off time.
