Great news there is no funding for more roundups! Whatever money they have for the WH&B program better well go to their care. Appreciate all you do ~ extremely.

even when I logged onto BLM it stated that it would take a while due to the high volume of logins. Is there any way to tell from GRH how many login attempts there were?

I did watch the BLM live streaming of Dean Bolstad and the panel, which went overtime and until meeting convened. It makes sense GRH crashed. I was not on BLM live stream until 1:00 pm, so not sure what happened before that. Did anyone catch that?

Thanks R.T for the update! I am elated to hear that the BLM has no money for roundups in 2011. Hopefully, this is only a start to serious reform for our horses and burros. Now, if we could just take care of all our wild ones that are still in BLM’s prisons…

KEEP our universal consciousness streaming to end roundups forever and the return of those imprisoned. BLM must be defunded and eliminated. They serve only corporate interests at the cost of lives and despoiling OUR environment.

I watched most to the advisory board meeting and was surprised to listen to how the many of the litigation concerns were “muted.” Also, disappointing was hearing that the Academy of Sciences report wasn’t actually going to be adding new information, but would be looking at, and reevaluating the 1991 report, with suggestions for more in depth research. Who’s going to actually count the horses and question the 20% growth, balance the land use, or take into account the 16 million acres that were somehow lost since 1971?
I wish everyone who is out there a level head, many deep breaths and clear thinking when you speak tomorrow. Thank-you for being there, I couldn’t do it.

That word is moot. In this case it usually means that since the roundup is over why bother going back and revisiting things.
But it is important to revisit what happened at Owyhee because Laura Leigh’s first amendment rights were violated. And Kennie Salazoo and Bobby boo were conspiring to keep moving the traps so Laura couldn’t observe.
Have no fear. Laura I think is at Phoenix. You can see her complaints on the little box on the right. It says flash widget on it. You can download and read all the different lawsuits. Her website is Art and Horses.

Margaret, thanks for the mute/moot. (I’m surprised I could write after hours of listening.) I have been following a few of the lawsuits, Laura’s in particular, but was surprised at how many were “resolved” by judges not granting TSOs and were then moot due to timing. I can’t say that it gives me much faith in our legal system.

Sandra I apologize. I was not trying to say that Owyhee was moot. I was giving a because. No Owyhee will never be okay. They moved horses before the roundup and then starved them of water. Then they ran them and couldn’t understand why 7 horses died overnight due to “water intoxication”. Give me a break Abbey. You say these people are pros–first day of Pony Club you learn about hot horses, and cooling out procedures.
You NEVER EVER let a hot horse have free access to water–all he wants. You cool them out properly. That was neglicene on the part of everyone who was present that day.

Owyhee will never die,unlike so many of the horses. It stands right beside the Jackson Mtn fiasco. There are still answers that need to come out concerning Owyhee. If we do not expose these travesties we are doomed to see them repeated. As far as BLM being broke–well join the crowd dudes, everyone else in America is too!! This time it will save lives. Taking tomorrow afternoon off to work those faxes and phone calls. We have more than just a foot in the door and now is the time we can pop it wide open. Scary thought BLM, huh?

RT I’m with everyone else here this is THE BEST NEWS OF THE DAY! And the second best news is Zenyatta is pregnant!!!! Yuppers folks I read it on her website this morning–she very proudly announced that she IS IN FOAL!!!!!

My biggest concern and I’m sure its crossed more than one mind–what about the horses BLM already have in LTH? I’m sure that there is little to no chance that those horses will ever be set back free but how about the care that BLM is entrusted with????
If BLM is that broke maybe now is the time they should honestly look in Madeleine’s eco-sanctuary. And how can they be that broke. They just removed all those horses from Antelope Complex to move in hundreds of cattle–where is that money going???? That money needs to go to feed for the horses BLM has in prison.
Hay BLM can you say HOARDING!!!!! Classic case. This should go on those discovery/health channels. Wow, guess I’m way ahead of the BLM. I’ve known that I couldn’t afford a horses again no matter how much I want one. But I can donate and I know my heart is in the right place.

Not to dampen your happy dance, but as long as the Senate keeps money away from the BLM, the round-ups are only put off until fall, then who knows. As for the BLM working with Madeleine Pickens, I think it was Karla Bird who made the point that without funds, the BLM wouldn’t be considering any private sanctuary proposals, despite their posting an application for said proposals by the end of the month.

My take was they are still hoping and counting on the senate to increase funding..its not over keep e-mailing your senators..its still a toss up there..Reid is going to lobby like crazy to get that money back in the budget..the spokesperson is hoping she said they will keep extending the budget..we are only part way there..close but don’t break out the champagne yet..keep calling and faxing the senators

folks what she said was that they budget had been extended to march 18, it has NOT been passed by both houses yet to confirm the money has been eliminated from BLMs budget-the senate can stick it back in and return it to the house for a final vote..if they got most of the cuts they wanted then the house would pass it with the 12 million back in the budget

Yes we have the houses attention we must follow thru-this was last years budget and BLM was allowed to keep gathering without any funded mandate…they will ask for money for birth control..which means…MORE roundups to administer it,,more dead and sick or injured horses,,fertility gathers pose the same threats..they will work this angle to get the money for roundups to continue this summer…this next budget is coming up too to be voted on..while we have their attention we need to be asking for a full investigation of the WH&B program and give our input to them where it is meaningfull..

yes and we know it may be a deliberate ploy on the part of the BLM to get us lulled into a sense of satisfation, it is all those calls and hard work of boots on the ground that brought this to the houses attention..senators are a different mindset..

Praise the Lord! He saved his most favored among all from any more roundups at least for 2011. I have been and will still be lobbying my Congressman and my Senators to pull the funding for the BLM and the Department of the Interior and to put the wild horses that are in the long term holding back on the range! Plus I’m asking them to please pass the current bills against horse slaughter that are currently on the table in the house and senate. We’ll never give up the fight!!

DON’T RELAX YOUR GUARD! I heard TWO more round-ups–one by Forest Service? One at the shuttle landing base in California (the burros are getting on the landing). They COULD be just herded back where they belong, I should think.
AND
It was stated that they could STILL hold another round-up IF requested by another agency or entity. Forest Service, Fish and Game are two that come to mind.

Interestingly, now that they are out of money and unable to achieve further doom and damage upon the wild horses and burros, they have been beneficent enough to allow three hours for public comments tomorrow. They are still playing their hand and now it is so they will appear to be reasonable. I will never forget the damage they have done to our wild horses. While they are down we need to tell them to put the horses back.

There is only one way for me to feel relief for the Wild Mustangs, and that is ALL Wild mustangs Imprisioned by the BLM are returned to the range , Protected and Preserved by Laws that are upheld by Our Government !!!! and the BLM is replaced and brought to Justice for their crimes and needless assaults against The Beloved Wild Mustangs ….and The BLM replaced by an Agency that is created by the People who love and respect them………..

A suggestion for communicating more effectively with our representatives and senators:
If you want to make sure your elected official actually sees documents you want them to see such as the Report to Congress recently produced by several groups and published through American Herds, send it to the person who runs your senator’s state office or your representative’s office. They can email the document to the staffer who is working on that issue.
It sounds like the long way around, but I took a notebook full of documents to one of my senator’s offices this morning, and his staffer said she would scan it and send it to the Washington office. My representative also suggested that I send anything I wanted him to see.through his district director.
I think the phone calls are good as are letters and faxes, but packages take time because they have to be scanned. Emails are tough because of the sheer volume od them.
