Out of Respect: A Day of Silence

“We laid down the swords, bended our knees and hung our heads with disbelief and sadness over the senseless tragedy that, once again, befell so many souls.  Our travails pale in comparison to what so many have and are suffering so we offer this moment of silence for […]

Feel Good Sunday: Never Say Never

Often times it is difficult to find something of value to recharge our batteries on ‘Feel Good Sunday’, that is especially the case this week.

Locally, in Houston, we witnessed the horrendous tragedy of a family of six being senselessly murdered, we buried a great animal advocate reporter, felt the pain of the death of an outstanding firefighter and struggle with the flood of unaccompanied Central American children over-running our borders.

On the national equine side of things the BLM has thumbed it’s nose at federal law and published an outlandish schedule to “zero out” the few remaining herds of wild horses in Wyoming. It feels as if pigs are flying and animals are talking…the world is surely coming to an end.

The Story Behind the Photo: An Officer and His Horse

“As time slips through our fingers like grains of beach sand we are quickly brought around to yet another “Feel Good Sunday” installation.

Today, I would like to share with you a favorite of mine; a picture that speaks a thousand words. Being married to someone, and friends with others, who share their lives though the lens of a camera this particular story makes my eyes leak and tends to push me towards being a tad sappy, today. But that is why we are all here; for the love of our equines be they domestic or wild.

If your eyes begin to blur and a tear runs down your cheek don’t panic if a family member notices your moment of introspection…it’s okay to have a heart, to feel and to love and today’s story shows that quite clearly in a simple black and white photo.

We dedicate today’s story to all of the four-legged public servants that protect our citizens, both here and abroad, from the dangers and evils that attempt to disrupt and destroy this great land that we call the United States of America. Many times their sacrifices go unnoticed and unrewarded.

This will not happen on my watch!

Keep the faith my friends!” ~ R.T.

Part Two: Ginger, Quinn and a Cloud with a Silver Lining

“Feel Good Sunday” brings me full circle and back around to where we were last week when I wrote Part One of my week in the Pryor Mountains of Wyoming/Montana with Ginger Kathrens on our quest to find Cloud, dead or alive…and I need to stress that, it was not a happy-go-lucky excursion into LaLa Land to observe the ‘Yellowstone’ of wild horses, it was a trip of trepidation that, luckily, turned out for the best.
