  5. Awesome letter that shows her true understanding of all the issues surrounding Valley Meats and horse slaughter in general. Thank you Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham. To get to my parent’s home I have to drive close to Dennis Chavez’s feedlot, it would kill me to know that I was driving through a state with a horse slaughter facility.

  7. She’s a good one but will she be ignored like they do us? Everybody hates the idea of horse slaughter. Why are the potters that be steamrolling us? I’m still waiting for the good guy in the white hat to bring something good to this issue.

  8. We have been living a nightmare on this issue for far too long! With so many people opposed to horse slaughter and the huge problems it represents, it’s imperative that action be taken to end it once and for all! A sincere thank you to Congresswoman Michelle Grisham for presenting the facts, while highlighting the serious complications brought on by horseslaughter.

  12. Someone needs to “humanely put down that application”. We need to win this! The pro-slaughter nuts are heading to Congress with their big ideas and Sue is posing as her company that wants to kill horses and represents the people who are investing in her sick agenda. We need to push to help Congress understand that OUR personal property rights are also at issue in this. Hundreds of thousands of horses disappeared during the rein of slaughter in the US, 15,000 plus thousand disappeared last year whether to Mex or Ca and we need to stop slaughter. A sad story in the Examiner today entitled Miami horse stolen from her stall and slaughtered while her colt looks on. These stories folks are the NORM when slaughter re-opens in the US. We need to fight as hard as possible and tell Congress and the Department of Agriculture we have rights and our horses we are keeping have rights too! WE are getting left out of the details, in Illinois we had thousands of horses disappear during the DeKalb plants stay, I told you the story of how my grandfather saved 5 animals. Stolen, these animals cant just 911 and come home, they are in dire straights and we NEED our government to know we will find resources for the overpopulation they have declared, we just need to have this stopped to protect the rights of those who DONT want to have horses slaughtered. We have to bring stiffer penalties for those who do this! On the spot slaughters do occur when the plants are open, because killer buyers will sell the meat even if the plant doesn’t accept the horse, so we have to stop this scenario from playing out again as it did prior. You have NOT yet witnessed how barbaric it gets in horse slaughter, while the plants were running bodies popped up of dead horses regularly… we cannot afford this to happen to people and animals again. Please read this story, and think what would you feel like if this happened to you? And then, pick up the phone, relay that passion to stopping this. These men and women are moved by passion. WE have the passion, we have the determination. This letter she wrote was passionate, but we need to put in real terms what this means to each and every one of us. This is property issues, and we don’t want our property treated like this. My heartbroke when I read the article, and I will tell I follow the stories and I can say it harms and changes you to realize, when the sun goes down, while your at work, while your on vacation, what happens in the blink of an eye. This is just one more reason we don’t need a plant, and it offers the answer to the question, do you really want criminals working these type of plants where they are killing animals? It links violence and criminals in a way no other words could EVER express!

  13. Ouch! That letter is right on the money. Just not sure I’d liked to be the target…but how come if this plant is so UNWANTED by the majority are they still trying to move forward? Seems to me that it’s kinda like trying to open an adult bookstore in a very conservative area. It’s just not settling well.

I’m still trying to figure out who would invest in this knowing how toxic the meat is and the EU regs coming into play at the end of July. Or did something happen and the EU IS NOT going to enforce these regs?

I wonder who de Los Santos is going to be selling to? Is he required to say? If so, maybe we could contact such those governments…

  14. The question is not who he would be selling to, but who would be footing the bill for the operation of the slaughter house. Its obvious that this guy was seriously low on funds. There certainly corruption going on in the background here. There were many stolen horses that ended up at Cavel, Intl in DeKalb, Illinois. Most horses stolen, its sad to say, are not recovered. However, one
Canadian horse by the name of Montana, was recovered by the poor family. Cavel, Intl made the poor family pay double the price of the horse. 2 or 3 other appaloosas were not so lucky. The people could only recover the skins…Sickening isn’t it? Thank God for good, honest politicians such as Congresswoman Grisham. She has all the facts and will stand up to her peers. Thank you again for taking this position and writing a very couragous letter.

  16. Folks AQHA is in Texas and he has investors in Texas. So makes me ponder…..and the reveal RT made of the false front address for the Chaval Company. RT have you considered that you could turn them in for having a false front for a meat shipper as a house address to the USDA? An investigation has to be conducted legally on that location in Texas that was a brick home, the reason? because its NOT a legal location to ship meats from. If nothing else, they could result with a ruling against Cheval doing business with horsemeat in the US. Improper meat handling is breaking the law! So we need to pursue it1
