Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond is revealed as 23rd largest landowner in US with 433,000 acres – and the government paid her family $23.9 MILLION in rent over the past decade

Not only has the Bureau of Land Management paid Drummond Land and Cattle Co. almost $24 million to warehouse our wild horses on their long term holding pasture, but Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond has used photos of wild horses on most of her Pioneer Woman product packaging and on her blog and has used video of wild horses in the trailer for her Pioneer Woman cooking show.  – Debbie

Land barons: In its annual list of America’s 100 largest landowners, The Land Report reveals that as of 2016 the Drummond Family owns an astonishing 433,000 acres of property

Ladd Drummond’s family cattle ranch has earned them the 23rd spot on the list of the 100 largest landowners in the United States
  • He lives on the family’s massive estate, which is 433,000 acres or just over 675 square miles, with his wife Ree Drummomnd and their four children
  • Ree has turned her life on the ranch into a multimillion dollar empire thanks to her work as the Pioneer Woman
  • The family has also made $24 million in the past decade renting land to the US government

Ree Drummond may present herself as a modern day Laura Ingalls Wilder or Willa Cather on her Pioneer Woman blog and TV show, but the self-made entrepreneur has far more in common with the Queen of England than her prairie home companions.

In its annual list of America’s 100 largest landowners, The Land Report reveals that as of 2016 the Drummond Family owns an astonishing 433,000 acres of property.

Drummond, her husband Ladd and their four teenage children make their home just two hours down the road from Oklahoma City in Pawhuska, which is where her husband Ladd’s family put down roots four generations ago.

Ladd is now a key player at Drummond Land & Cattle Co, the notoriously private family-held company that Frederick Drummond started after arriving in this country from Scotland in the late 19th century.

In addition to the money they bring in from their cattle and horse endeavors, Drummond Land also manages to clean up thanks to one deep-pocketed tenant – the US government.

  1. Over the past 46 years, tens of thousands of wild horses and burros have been removed from western rangelands based on claims of “excess”. The BLM has little to no credible data to justify its management actions. Absolute accountability and transparency for Congress and the tax-paying public including proof of the BLM’s on the range and off the range census – both current and past – is required.

Almost every management issue concerning wild horses and burros depends on accurate population estimates. Reliable, science-based estimates are needed for maintaining everything from herd health to habitat carrying capacity to genetic diversity. Scientifically supportable and defensible population estimates of wild horse and burro populations are not accomplished by BLM. Because population estimates drive nearly all management decisions pertaining to wild horses and burros, accuracy is vital. “The BLM clearly recognizes that its census methodologies may not be providing accurate estimates.” (1991 NAS) “The accuracy and precision of current wild horse survey methods have not been rigorously tested.” (2013 NAS) BLM’s growth estimates and population increases on specific HMAs is biologically impossible and scientifically absurd. The BLM has reported, on more than one occasion, statistics that would establish a 750 to 1250 percent increase in population over the course of a year. This is fraud.

Let’s face it … the only persons that have worked for 46 plus years for the extinction of wild horses and burros are those with a financial interest. This has been and continues to be unacceptable, illegal and the American citizens are disgusted at the “sell-out” of our lands and resources by the USFS and the BLM agencies that are responsible to PROTECT them.

  2. AW, the European Cattle Barons descendants…I am so sick of the fraud. I called QVC about PW and protested their selling of her cookbooks. They listened to me. I don’t know if they will do anything. I have no problem with having a successful business but don’t used our tax payer dollars to do it. If you have been to that part of OK you know about the wages. When I watched the cooking show, I always felt sorry for the cattle being loaded up for market. I really didn’t like Ladd’s lack of compassion toward the cattle. None of my dollars go toward PW empire willingly.
