The Bureau of Land Management just released its plan to Congress for managing wild horses and burros on our public lands.
The options offered in this report would not lead to sustainability but instead would lead directly to the extinction of wild horses and burros on our public lands with the next 10-20 years.
False claims such as thousands of starving and dying horses on the range, and the horses being the source of any and all range degradation are at the heart of their argument. The BLM proposes to remove 50,000 wild horses and burros from our public lands. They want to remove protections from our wild horses and burros that will lead to tens of thousands of wild horses being killed and slaughtered, and kill the wild horses and burros in holding facilities. This is not “euthanasia,” these are healthy wild horses and burros.
The BLM wants to continue to keep the public in the dark about its actions, seeking to lift requirements for study and public comment that protect our public lands as well as the animals that live on them.
The BLM also proposes to sterilize 80% of the wild horses and burros that live on our public lands, and they will use dangerous, cruel and inhumane methods to accomplish this. Wild horses and burros will no longer have the natural behaviors that characterize these family oriented equids, and this will bring the numbers of over 70% of the remaining herds to below genetically viable levels.

(1) Public service is a public trust, requiring employees to place loyalty to the Constitution, the laws and ethical principles above private gain.
(2) Employees shall not hold financial interests that conflict with the conscientious performance of duty.
(3) Employees shall not engage in financial transactions using nonpublic Government information or allow the improper use of such information to further any private interest.
(4) An employee shall not, except as permitted by subpart B of this part, solicit or accept any gift or other item of monetary value from any person or entity seeking official action from, doing business with, or conducting activities regulated by the employee’s agency, or whose interests may be substantially affected by the performance or nonperformance of the employee’s duties.
(5) Employees shall put forth honest effort in the performance of their duties.
(6) Employees shall not knowingly make unauthorized commitments or promises of any kind purporting to bind the government.
(7) Employees shall not use public office for private gain.
(8) Employees shall act impartially and not give preferential treatment to any private organization or individual.
(9) Employees shall protect and conserve Federal property and shall not use it for other than authorized activities.

(11) Employees shall disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities.
(12) Employees shall satisfy in good faith their obligations as citizens, including all just financial obligations, especially those—such as Federal, State, or local taxes—that are imposed by law.
(13) Employees shall adhere to all laws and regulations that provide equal opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap.
(14) Employees shall endeavor to avoid any actions creating the appearance that they are violating the law or the ethical standards set forth in this part. Whether particular circumstances create an appearance that the law or these standards have been violated shall be determined from the perspective of a reasonable person with knowledge of the relevant facts.

Is it possible that the BLM Wild Horse & Burro Program is going to be shut down altogether? That fits right into the DOI secretary’s “downsizing agenda”.
How many people does that program employ…and where would they go?

What’s Left, The High Cost of Miscalculating

On June 30th, 2008, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced the Wild Horse and Burro Program had reached a crisis point of epic proportions.
As a result of removing over 75,000 wild horses and burros from public lands since 2001, BLM now claims the cost of holding 32,000 warehoused animals has exceeded the programs financial limits and something must be done.
According to BLM, only three viable options now exist:
*Allow BLM to grant Instant Title to adopters, almost a guaranteed slaughterhouse end.
*Allow BLM to shoot tens of thousands of wild horses both on and off the range.
*Give BLM more money to manage the Wild Horse and Burro Program.
While BLM is attempting to focus the public’s attention on “what” should be done about BLMs reported crisis of “excess” wild horses and burros, the first question the public should really be asking is, does BLMs data back up their claims?
Despite the massive cleansing campaign over the last several years, BLM continues to report 33,000 wild horses and burros still roam public lands. However, independent analysis utilizing BLMs own statistics and methods of annual population reports, removals and reproductive rates concluded the most likely wild populations still remaining is merely 13,500 wild horses and burros – 20,000 less than BLM reported.
BLMs own data fails to support their population claims by a large margin and evidence strongly suggests the agency has removed 11,000-14,000 more wild horses and burros than was necessary. In other words, BLMs own statistics point to the conclusion that the current “crisis” has been manufactured.

First Everyone NEEDS TO CALL CONGRESS AND SAY NO. SECOND IT’S THE SAME PLANS they said before they were asked to make a 30 day solution. I posted on here about 2 weeks ago in a comment section to ask that Advocates prepare a plan with supporting science declaring they are wrong and the CATTLE are destructive. Congress needs to have a quick resolution place, with contraceptive patterns from the BLM exposed as they ONLY have employees walking on foot in an 8 hour day literally paid to do nothing wasting taxpayers dollars of their own admission to solely contracept 1 OR 2 mares. Congress needs to know directly the complicity of the BUREAU and you need to quickly pull the facts together and put it in their actual hands. Pics of clove hooves destroying range and a compassion of horses hooves and what they do. It’s time. You need to spell it out quickly and get it in their hands and push back on the ILLEGAL FEAR MONGERING Chris Stewart is doing. There’s no absolutely No direct data proving these horses will All starve to death and no evidence it will happen in this shorten time frame. Fear mongering by candidates is against the law to pressure fellow politicians and place fear to produce the desired outcome from the public’s I’ll perceived damger. This is serious. The tragedy hasn’t happened yet, however, watching how it’s unfolding it will. Time to push back. Start unfolding a campaign of calls faxes, and twitters, we have to close this I’ll advised routine down now! You need to ship everything we have to the members of Congress so they prove the Agency is lying and Stewart is making up random increased population numbers in interviews again. Their followers only comment on how many horses have you personally adopted? They are battering anyone online who hasnt adopted them all. They are attempting to blame people who cannot all these horses for the fact they arent adopted. Stand up and set the record straight Directly to CONGRESS. NOT JUST on this blog or in the papers but directly to their ears, these are all attempts to twist people’s concepts of right or wrong. I have Never changed my position. Some more adoptions need to transpire yet horses in holding Need the 3 strikes policy eliminated. Tell Congress this would help change the adoptions program. If you don’t stand up and reply to Congress directly and tell them we do not accept Fear mongering logical Stances not now not ever, that’s what our CONSTITUTION PROTECTS US FROM.

Did you know the real reason activists would do outlandish behavior? To get ARRESTED! YES, THE IDEA was to make noise for the people who ignored problems to finally pay attention. They would set something free and they would steal an animal, so Duquettes posts are busted, shame, etc. Yet, those very activists have now brought more coverage, more exposure and more interests to their fight because of getting Busted. So my theory us the sneaky wheel, folks, it’s time for all that yelling, and animosity your feeling to have to a real place to be used, no not getting arrested but definitely making enough noise we are for the horses sake Heard. It’s tine, for them it’s time. The loudest is voice that’s heard in this war of Good Vs Evil. We have been passionate about this fight for decades, we all have the same intention, protect the horses, it’s time not just from your phones and keyboards but to get directly to the people in charge of this whole mess and say Directly we won’t tolerate this abuse of power.

Congress only knows what they have been told by BLM employees and there is no doubt BLM has and continues to lie about the true numbers of horses and condition of our public lands.
What the BLM has done is absolute corruption and fraud against we American taxpayers.
This managing for extinction of our wild horses and burros has been planned by BLM for many years. Why? Because our public lands and resources are worth a lot of money money money.
This current plan might very well become a reality if you and I don’t get through to our representatives and to the PUBLIC. The only way that we can stop this is to get the truth to our representatives and for a LARGE public outcry to be heard by all Americans.
I am sickened … but not done fighting for what I know is the truth.

I keep wondering what would Wild Horse Annie do in these times, with the tools we now have?
Is there some way to get a national event rolling, like a national town hall live online, or somesuch digital event?
Turn loose some Mustangs on the White House lawn?
Paint or chalk 325 million red hoofprints on the National Mall, one for each U.S. citizen?
