Call President Obama on Promise to Stop Horse Slaughter

Here at WHFF volunteer headquarters we are besieged with emails, calls, press interviews on the atrocity of 3 Congressman covertly working to bring foreign owned horse slaughter plants to the United States and we, have had enough. To echo our good friends at the Equine Welfare Alliance we are tired of mailing, faxing, calling our legislators only to get back canned and condescending responses, we are MAD and mad enough to do something about it, TODAY!

A Time To Be Thankful

Once again, it is Sunday, a day when we like to add something refreshing and uplifting to your day so that we can hit the ground running on Monday. And not that I want to demean the message but we do not have a super, thought provoking message to send your way, this morning…just a simple thought to share and a few words to speak.

Video: Horse and Dog Bridge Trans-Species Communication Gap

We, as horse people, enjoy sharing stories of our bonding and relationships with our equine companions. Likewise, many of us have other four legged friends including the ever faithful canines. The video featured, today, is of a little dog named Frenchie and his fascination with a police horse at the Occupy Wall Street protest. A simple moment of a little dog, excited beyond all comprehension, trying to show his happiness over meeting such a large and compassionate four legged brother. You can cut his excitement with a knife.

BLM Fine Tunes Assault Plans Against Cloud’s Herd in 2012

Only one good comment can be made; the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is not planning to use cruel helicopters to wage another attack against Cloud’s herd next year, in fact, they really are not sure what they are going to use, yet. But one thing is for certain, they are once again going to wage war against the Pryor Mountain herd in Montana using figures and science that flies in the face of their own consultants as indicated in their newly released scoping document for the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range (PMWHR)

Obama Urged to Keep ” No Horse Slaughter” Campaign Promise

Chicago (EWA) – During his 2008 campaign, President Obama promised his unequivocal support for a ban on horse slaughter. “Now is the time for you to keep that promise, Mr. President,” says John Holland, president of Equine Welfare Alliance.

Calling it “paramount to public health”, the Equine Welfare Alliance (EWA) and Animal Law Coalition (ALC) sent a letter to President Obama, urging him to support a ban on equine slaughter for human consumption. The groups also presented the president with more than 6,000 signatures on a White House petition calling for an end to equine slaughter for human consumption.

Ag Bill Passes Without Prohibition Against Federal Horse Meat Inspectors

HOUSTON, (Horseback) – Horse slaughter enthusiasts got a rare victory, of sorts, when the United States Senate passed an agriculture appropriations bill that did not contain a provision banning horsemeat inspections at U.S. slaughter plants. HR 3233, will now move to conference committee where conferees will hammer out the final legislation that will be passed by both houses of Congress.

Blazer, the Little Horse that Could!

As funny as this may sound one of the most significant influences in my life was not a person, a book or even a song; it was my horse Blazer.
I was given Blazer as a birthday gift when I was 10 years old and from that day on my life was never the same. I spent all my time with Blazer. He taught me commitment, responsibility, and how to love something unconditionally and for him he expected nothing in return but maybe a treat every now and then.Through Blazer, I grew as a person. I trained him from the ground up and made him into something that no one else ever thought he could be. Blazer was 14.2 hands, which is about 4’6 in feet.

Horse Whispers

It’s Sunday, and I could not leave you fellow advocates and friends of the horses with the ugly images of the likes of Jason Meduna, Sue Wallis, Dave Duquette and the BLM dancing in your minds; that in it’s own right is a cruel and unnecessary act. So for today, I give you a story that appears in our Book in an effort to wash your minds and souls free of the dirt, blood and corruption while replenishing and refreshing your spirit. You may take it at it’s face value, but for those of you who have plunged into the depths of the equine spirit, you know of what I write. Keep the faith and may the Force of the Horse® be with you, my friends. ~ R.T.

Evidence of a Wild Mustang Murderer

Today we share with you the anniversary perspective from the woman who suffered long before any of us were aware of Meduna and who continues to suffer, today, from witnessing the evil that walked on two legs and killed wild horses as a hobby and pastime. Her name is Vicki Freiberger and this is her story, in her words and through her eyes.
