Chicago (EWA) – Registration is now open for the 2012 International Equine Conference (IEC) to be held at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event follows the extremely successful 2011 conference in Alexandria, Virginia last year.

Wild horse advocacy groups have filed court action seeking to head off what they fear could be an emergency wild horse roundup in northwest Colorado.
Washington D.C., (WHFF) – On June 22nd, 2012 Wild Horse Advocacy groups filed an “Emergency Motion for Stay of Threatened Emergency Gather” against Director of the Department of the Interior (DoI) Ken Salazar and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in an attempt to “head off” what is believed to be an artificial emergency generated by the BLM in an effort to eradicate Colorado’s West Douglas Wild Horse Herd and by-pass on-going litigation to prevent the agency from doing same.
The BLM will continue its emergency gather of wild horses in the southern portion of the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area (HMA) following a court ruling Wednesday.

The leader of the Foundation for the Preservation and Protection of the Przewalski’s Horse, during the 20th anniversary event of reintroduction of wild horses in Khustai Mountains, made the following statement:
“Forty years ago, I saw the Takhi for the first time when I visited a zoo with my husband on my honeymoon. At the time, the animal was an endangered species, and only about 270 Takhi remained worldwide. This sad news about the extinction of the Takhi in Mongolia made me devastated. Now the number of Takhi has reached 270 in Mongolia alone. I am really proud of myself and our colleagues for the work we have done to breed this animal.”
URUMQI, May 22 (Xinhua) — Four endangered Przewalski’s horses were sent to Mongolia from west China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on May 21st, marking the first time for China to send the horses to another country since reintroducing the species 17 years ago, according to Cao Jie, director of the Xinjiang Wild Horse Propagation Center.
