Back Online and Struggling to Get Up to Speed
A great big THANKS to our readers for your patience as Terry and I have been trekking across Mongolia on horseback with nary a word or warning. We have said goodbye to our trusty Mongol steeds and thanked our nomadic horsemen for their brave efforts in tolerating not only my size and weight but the continual stream of questions that we have thrown at them over our week long adventure. The insights we have garnered are more precious than physical riches and we will be happy to share.
Today, we are in Ulaanbataar the capitol city of Mongolia and both Terry and I will be off to Beijing, tonight, for some cultural awakening but overall we are back online and in contact. Over the next several days we will be sharing, as promised, pictorial stories of our experiences and what we have learned while living amongst the nomadic horse-people of Mongolia. But as we wade through the emails and wash the dust off from ourselves please allow us to share several timely articles from our very close and personal friends, Jerry Finch and Vickery Eckhoff.
Keep the faith, my friends, the Force of the Horse grows ever stronger with each and every new dawn.

The Force of the Horse is every where–you just can’t forge that kind of a bond with an engine–no matter how much horsepower is under the hood. The force flows from horse to human and back again, in waves of energy and understanding. Imagine the horse/human revelation the very first time a person sat on a horse’s back–what a feat–what a promise of power and partnership–and now a chapter of treachery is written against the horse here in the west. Good for the Mongolians and their culture and heritage. Welcome back to reality RT and Terry.

Welcome back to the 21st century R.T. and Terry. I bet you have discovered many heartfelt reasons that made you wonder if you even wanted to return. Have a safe journey.
PS I will be interested to learn what kind of headstall/halter/bridle they use … it looks like there is no “bit” and personally I think that is a good thing for the animals.

What a beautiful place. Most of the pictures of Mongolia I’ve seen didn’t have the contrast of the bright green grass in the forefront on the mountains. So grateful that you all were able to take this trip.
