Feel Good Sunday: You are the Light

by R.T. Fitch

R.T. Fitch at D.C. RallyI have spent a great deal of time, today, searching for good news in relation to wild horses, burros or just equines in general and let me tell you, the pickings are slim.

So I turned my eyes inward and have realized that I have been remiss in adding any input of my own and have slacked off in writing commentary when perhaps a quick poke in the ribs is due. For all of that, I apologize as the paying job has required more attention (way more attention) than I had foreseen but keep the faith, we are still alive and functioning.

With that said, I ran across a little slide show that I put together back in March of 2010 which documented the “March for Mustangs” protest held in Washington D.C. with contains a multitude of photographs that make my eyes leak, big time. “Why” you ask…because the pictures are of YOU, or at the very least those who represent YOU, normal, stick in your throat, apple pie eating, tax paying Americans who traveled from all points of the country, at their own expense, to protest what was and is still going on with the BLM’s assault against our wild horses and burros. I can’t watch the video without being overwhelmed by your commitment, vigilance, courage and tenacity.

We are going to do it,;hate to keep baiting you but things are in the works to bring this management to extinction to a close. BUT we CANNOT do it without YOU. Each and every one of you plays an important role in your own unique and special way, so please, do not discount yourself.

Check out the ole video, recognize a few of us (I was fatter then), and then let us make NEW news for the wild horses and burros.  Keep the Faith.

Love you guys.

R.T.

  1. Where can we find HOPE? It’s been over 5 years, and nothing is better for these horses. Years ago I was told “something big is coming” as well as “the borders WILL close VERY SOON”. Everything keeps going as it is. Many times as I try to get more attention for our efforts, I’m told that there are way bigger problems for our government to handle than “horses”. Every day I trudge on, educating people, rescuing by bailing and sharing out horses in need, etc.; and I NEVER put negative comments “out there”. But, PLEASE, I need some real HOPE…. WHERE can I find it? Is there really any??

  2. What happens behinds the scenes in Every Aspect of the Horse Industry is For BOTH WILD and DOMESTIC. I personally do NOT separate the two. Why? Because Wild ARE just As important and exciting and wonderful as Domestic horses. Our World Evolved because of ALL of the Equines. It Did not Evolve on One or The Other but Both. The Holidays are closing in and as i simply turn the Channel when Pioneer Woman pops up I cannot change the Channel on the BLM Wild Horses. My mind constantly churns the possibilities of their Freedom representing what America is and What Domestic Equine Believe…they believe in Family….in social values… in working together and helping others….withdrawing when needed and fighting or plunging ahead when required. Our minds fill up with ideal place settings and Soon Christmas Bulbs and All these horses think of Are their Families Domestic and Wild. The ONLY thing I have really Asked Santa For this Year…..is WE EQUINE LOVERS STAY UNITED AND WORK TOGETHER WITH PEACE AND HELP SAVE EQUINES WHILE WE HONOR THOSE GOBE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN AND RESCUE THOSE IN NEED AND SANTA THE SAFE ACT IS ON MY LIST TOO….OH and Firing All the Horse Haters at the BLM would be nice too….just saying. No I already sent My Santa letter….remember were All in this together

  3. Many thanks for all you and other advocates do, R.T.
I have asked Congressmen Whitfield and Grijalva to do a Congressional hearing of the BLM. Maybe some of you will also.
I’m afraid by the time roundups ever get stopped our wild horses will be extinct except for the few in sancturaries and saved by advocates.

  4. You did a good job for the horses and had a good turn out, video did show it all, thanks to you and all who showed up for the work you did, praying for a good out come. These animals need a break , they seem to lose a lot, and pay for it with there lives in a slaughter house.

  5. Learn from yesterday
    Live for today
    Hope for tomorrow.
Our wild ones do not give up and we cannot give up either.
I know that I could not look a wild one in the eye and tell him/her that I was giving up.

  6. STAND UP FOR A LONG TIME AND MAKE A LOT OF NOISE

“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty-never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

  7. Velma Johnston (Wild Horse Annie) didn’t give up and either can we.
She knew that the work had only started. We must carry her work forward.
The Public must be made to understand that is is even a bigger issue and if the Wild Horses & Burros go…so do Public Lands…and so does our Democracy

    • You’re completely right Louie. One thing that I’ve personally observed about countries where human rights are regularly violated, animal welfare is virtually nonexistent. Gandhi himself stated, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Kill buyers Don’t pay taxes – they do all their dirty deals in cash. If you know something say something.

  9. I’m actually glad that I waited to read and Watch THIS video until today**! Why? because these scenes NOT only remind me of the devotion and commitment of R.T. and all* of YOU/Us to the American wild horses ~» but it also brings out an extremely important point to keep Ever-in-Mind: opportunities for scenes like THIS ~ are, in fact, a HUGE part of ALL the rights and special opportunities for which YOU, R.T. and every one of our own VETERANS have been diligently *Fighting FOR* during the last 250 years or so!! THINK about it, in how many sovereign countries of this world is it even plausible or Possible* to stand up on stage at the very home of the government to VOICE our own citizen’s concerns or protests, be they “popular” or “widely accepted ” OR “barely heard about”?? So, for THIS and many other things that we often take for granted : THANK YOU to Each and Every VETERAN, past and future, for giving us THIS very special Right* of living in the USA!! 😀 withOut you, such scenes would likely be UNthinkable! and We are, collectively, *grateFul* for ALL you have done, forevermore… Thank you for your services ~ again!
