Feel Good Sunday Video: A Horse Lover’s Prayer

“It’s time to pause, dismount, loosen the cinch, pull off the headstall and bit, let your trail-buddy graze while you pull up a cool spot under a tree and sip on one of my homemade Wrangler Iced Teas…yes, it’s been a tough battle and the war is far from being won.

This next week is going to be a rough one so take a few minutes to sit back, reflect and recharge on why we do what we do.  Whether you are lucky enough to live with equines or not, this video will give you pause and bring a tear to your eye.

I raise my drink in honor of all those I stand shoulder to shoulder with; we will win, we will save them, each and every one of them.  May God bless you all!  Cheers!” ~ R.T.

  1. “We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.”
    ― Henry Beston

    • Lovely & true! They are so much better than we as humans are – we waste far too much time with greed, power & bickering. Making material objects into being more important than living breathing creatures. Other nations, indeed!

    • Love this quote. My favorite part:

“In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear.”

  2. I know your pausing for a second. I respect that however this needs addressed asap. These horses had no representation, no one speaking for them while they were rounded up. They point blank say No one did a single thing. I know were spread all over the map. We have to fight together in every corner for Every single horse. These horses needed to have someone speak out even after the fact and present a wall of representation. They fully believe this is a sign they are getting the go ahead. Don’t let this article get past us or you without feedback Directly to the BLM…let them know we do not budge a single inch and no these horses are cared for and we have not quit fighting. They are expecting a fight and we are the ones who have to give it. Don’t let these horses even after roundup appear to the forgotten or the ones who had no protection. Please stop and comment, call the Bureau, out in a word for these animals and remind me them we are fighting for every single horse. I refuse to let them go without knowing someone yelled out for them. http://www.gjsentinel.com/news/articles/46-wild-horses-caught-from-piceance-herd

  3. Henry Beston, well said. It is time to speak loud and clear for our wild horses. They need us to save them all. We are going to have to work harder to help them. Please call and speak up to government officials to help save our wild ones. It is up to all of us that really love them and care deeply for their lives as well as their freedom. Oh how I love these wild horses and burros. Please protect and fight for their lives. Thankyou Judy 🙂 We just have to do this for them.
