Straight from the Horse's Heart 
Yes the horses are very good & gentile BUT I believe it would be a very good safe idea for that child as young as she is to wear a hardhat when she is near them and especially when riding! It only takes a moment for something bad to happen.
I started bringing my granddaughter to the barn & having her around & on horses but from the beginning she wore a hardhat. It became an automatic thing as she got older – now is a barn manager – still riding-teaching and still wearing a hardhat.
I’m not being critical of this mom – having a child grow up being so comfortable & loving around animals is so very important in this day and age. It changes a child’s outlook as they grow older – makes them into a better person. I just have seen how quickly an animal can react – not to intentionally injure a child but things happen.
