An ex- wrangler at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s wild horse corrals near Burns, Oregon was accused Thursday of failing to properly care for more than 20 Kiger mustang horses he owned, including one that died.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. — Authorities said Thursday they are looking for tips from the public in hopes of finding whoever shot and killed three wild horses east of Prineville – one of which was pregnant and accompanied by her year-old foal, which was found unhurt.
As part of the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) alleged “New Strategy” the agency claims that it is extending its hand “soliciting proposals for private-public partnerships to establish wild horse ‘ecosanctuaries’ on non-BLM managed land.” In a press release, dated 03/16/2011, the BLM states that they will entertain said partnerships in an effort to help the BLM care and feed the “excess” wild horses the BLM have removed from their rightful homes.

It’s been one helluva week. Many thanks go out to those who took of their own time, and resources, to plan, travel and execute activities during the BLM Advisory Board Meeting of this past week. My head is still whirling but then again, it does not take much to make that occur. But overall, the question remains…did we make a difference?
Breaking News: BLM Annouces that Lack of Funds Translates into No More Wild Horse Roundups for Fiscal Year 2011
Today during opening remarks of the BLM Advisory Board Meeting high ranking agency officials revealed that due to current budget restraints the BLM has canceled all of the summer roundups for fiscal year 2011.
