While World Reels From Horse Meat Scandal US Agencies Asleep at the Wheel

Forward by R.T. Fitch ~ president of Wild Horse Freedom Federation

Oklahoma Legislators and the USDA are “out to lunch”

“There is actually TOO MUCH to single out a single article on the scandalous Horse Meat/Slaughter Issue hitting the wire these days.  While the good ole boys in Oklahoma try to ram horse slaughter down the throats of their constituents the USDA considers allowing tainted horse slaughter plants when they are talking about cutting back inspectors.  Does any of this make sense, of course not.  Inserted below is just ONE DAY’s worth of news alerts on the issue from Google which clearly indicates that neither the USDA or the fools in Oklahoma’s capitol can read!!!” ~ R.T.

  1. Amazing the # of articles about this issue. Americans (who read), of course have heard about this, but are in denial (as usual).

If I ate meat I would invest in Neogen’s “meat speciation test kit.” In addition to telling you what species you are eating, too bad it wouldn’t also tell you the cholesterol level, diseases included, carcinogens, ph balance and other health concerns. That would be a real eye opener!

  2. It may well have been a blessing in disguise.

Consider this…the largest number of our wild horses are warehoused in OK by the BLM. Over 40 years of corruption and greed have lead to a complete and utter disaster which has culminated in way too many horses being abused, traumatized, maimed and killed not to mention the number still held in captivity.

Our government is in a financial fiasco and every dollar of taxpayer money spent is being reviewed. So how do they justify the +/- $80 million dollars to support 50,000 wild horses and burros being incarcerated? I understand the Senate committee chairman who vetted Ms Jewell sent her a letter asking her how she would fix the problem of the wild horse and burro program budget having doubled over the past few years. Will she take the high road of reopening the original lands deeded to the animals in 1971? Will she then ask Congress to exempt them from the Multiple Use Policy? Would she order the return of the horses and burros to their home ranges to live out the life God gave them?

OR…will she use the Burn’s Amendment to just get rid of the problem?

In comes OK.’s legislature and a couple of newbies who stand to gain financially if they can only get the state to allow slaughter, someone to build a slaughterhouse, and make a deal with the devil himself…the BLM. They could make a fortune selling mostly toxin free horse meat overseas to Europe etc.

And now the blessing. Tesco, Nestle, Burger King, Ikea, Bird’s Eye et.al. create the “SCANDAL” heard round the world. Tainted horse meat found in ‘beef’ products, criminal activity, falsified food safety documents, lack of oversght in the food chain and the industry itself. All this will probably lead to multi-million dollar lawsuits and rightfully so. Will OK and the BLM still want to step in this pile? Will they stick their head in the sand and hope the American People won’t notice when 30 to 40 or even 50,000 wild animals suddenly go missing? Where are they going to sell the meat now?

This news has hit the Internet and News Media like an astroid and even late night talk show hosts began to make statements about the ‘Scandal’ and if it can happen in Europe it certainly could happen here at home. This has given us a stage to educate more and more people about the dangers of ingesting the toxic drug filled meat. It has once again led to the introduction of a law in Congress to ban slaughter and the transportation of horses to foreign countries to be slaughtered forever. We now have the upper hand like never before when dealing with this issue in Congress, OK, and New Mexico (my apologies to Rick de los Santos but I can’t think of anyone more deserving of loosing everything he owns for abuse of animals)

I can only hope we take this opportunity to make hay while the sun is shining. Stop the ‘pony mills’ of the AQHA and backyard breeders. Impose more severe penalties for animal neglect and abandonment. Take the taxpayer savings from not warehousing wild horses in OK and KS and offer vouchers to people who hit hard times and need help buying hay so they can keep their horse(s). Offer low cost neutering. Offer low cost euthanization and burial (disposal). Any other solutions are welcomed.

As long as the American People continue to hear the words horse meat, toxic, contaminated, scandal used collectively I really believe this battle can and will be won.

    That is my prayer.

    • Steve, everything you said is right on the money. The corruption and lies of the BLM and everyone involved with making a profit off of the blood of our American Wild Horses and Burros, that are supposed to be protected by our U.S. Government. This has gone on for too long. All the grass roots Wild Horse organizations trying to fight the BLM and U.S. Government has been a tough fight and it is still not over. I only hope that the rest of the Wild Horses and Burros are set free to their native land. Let the Wild Horses and Burros be free and safe from the hands of the DEVILS.
      Amen.

      • Patty, I totally agree with your comments and assessment. I have been signing petitions for years for BLM to leave our American wild mustangs alone to enjoy their life as God intended them. But those people are satanic without souls or conscience. We are fighting the devil and our battle is not over. We have to keep on fighting because this is America and the people’s voices must be heard above the satanic officials that send these beautiful and noble beings to be slaughtered. The next thing we will hear of human slaughter houses!!! As long as they fill their pockets with money no one is exempt or spared. Humans going to slaughter. What’s the difference?????

  4. Another story to add- According to the March 18th edition of the Globe, Kate Middleton was fed horsemeat by the royal caterers and she is in fear for the health of her baby. The entire royal family was informed that they were all exposed to this meat for an extended period of time. I feel sorry for Kate. She has the wisdom to realize the dangers and toxicity of ingesting this product, while some Americans seem to feel it’s ok to poison people if you can make a profit.

  5. I’m still hoping we can hear from the noble advocates that documented the Horsekiller Free Lunch Fest in OK.

The bill(s) are going in the House to that moron, killer called Goodlatte (R-VA) in the Ag committee. This man HAS TO GO, or at least his chairman/woman need to have their email boxes flooded with outrage that poisoning humans and torturing equines is not moral and not food production.

  6. Like I have said a number of times it is the U.S.Senate that has blocked all of the bills that have been introduced over a number of years. The last bills had 160 members of the House that signed on to cosponsor but the Senate had only 25. Without the Senates cooperation none of this will work. Like any bill both parties have to pass it. What really needs to be done is for Obama to sign a executive order banning horse slaughter. I don’t know how anyone can get to Obama to suggest he do that. Would anyone out there know??

    • Barbara, from the executive orders Obama has already signed – necessary due to our dysfunctional do-nothing government – he has been called a dictator by the extreme right wing. Surely you do not want an executive order against horse slaughter tainted in this way. Far better to make our congress work for us – the 80% who are against slaughter on a bi-partisan basis. When an anti-slaughter bill is passed by both houses and comes across his desk, he will sign.
