    • How sad is it that this 23 year old stallion wasn’t allowed to be turned back out with the remainder of his herd? Wonder what the reasoning (???) was for that! Hes a lucky boy that he ended up where he did.

    • geri – This is a keeper! Have to give her mom credit – how many mothers would do this? Not worry about a mess etc. That little girl is very lucky – in so many ways.

      • Arlene: When I did inquire several times about “Freedom” they said they didn’t have him, but did have other black horses. I have wondered since then, if I should have driven up there and checked out the black horses to see if he had a scar, fresh or healed, from going through the barbed wire fence. THis shows how careless these damn BLM people are – to use barbed wire with the fences.

The one that stays in all my thoughts and dreams is the Black Stallion named FREEDOM< that broke through bobbedwire to Free himself from the capture of the BLM , he felt and wanted Freedom so badly he had to leave his family I remember so distinctly after his escape he turned to take that last awesome look at the family he left behind we all know the courage that this took to do, never have I seen such love and devotion displayed ,he is an Inspiration, by the action he had to take for the sake and love of FREEDOM…………………To this day I do not know where he is but I will look for him till I find him !!!!! they are all very close to my heart and soul, the Freedom they need is so close , we must give it back, at any cost , this is the Legacy of every Wild Mustang and we must do everything to save them …………………………….I wish every dream that Ace and every Wild Mustang is answered …………………………………………………………..

    • Arlene always captures my thoughts exactly. I could never express my sentiments & thoughts any better. Thank you also RT, Terry, & Jerry also… & so-so- many others, too numerous for me to name… Especially at this of year, I pray for peace for all slaughtered horses & other innocent animals who suffer at the hands of man. I wish to thank everyone who supports the innocent ones who have no voice except for us. May we all unite & believe that we can make a difference for change! I am also wondering if Grandma Gregg is Declan Gregg’s grandmother from Greenland NH? Please let me know? That young man is a hero (now& in the future) for ALL HORSES!!!

      • Marissa. well said. Arlene eloquently stated it. You are so accurate about us being the horses’ voice. It’s just to bad that we can’t get a majority support to overthrow the BLM bureaucracy. What a difference that would make. Our horses would see a return of their freedom and hopefully, if lucky, back with their families. Then we have to go after all the dog/cat breeders that keep breeding when so many good animas are destroyed every year at shelters. We need a no kill system – that keeps all our good animals until a lovng home can be found.

      • There is no relation, except that they both love horses and burros. Thanks for your comments, Marissa.

  2. This Christmas we need to say a prayer and wish for Mother Nature also–that speck of dust in the vast universe–we call home–as with our animals and ourselves–we are all under attack. I have posted this before, but now coral reef and flower are added (remember to tap twice on water to get English – that alone is sad)

  3. Arlene Orlando: After reading about “Freedom”, I called the BLM office that got them and they said they knew about him. I told them if they ever got him I wanted him. I would not bid for him, I would pay for him, and take him, driving from Southern California, loading him, and giving him a good home. I left my number but never got a call. THey told me the last time I talked to them, they had not got him. I pray that he survived and is well today. I would have loved to have him. I would have preferred that his life had remained as before with his family, but I would have taken him just to ensure that he was safe. And, that his family and all the wild mustangs will one day prove their existence with our help won out over the damn BLM and their bad people helping them to destroy our beautiful wild horses and burrow. May our wild horses and burros one day be able to – in their own way – with your help good people “We Won”!

      • Arlene: I will help find him with you. As I said before, I wanted him right after reading about him. Maybe we both could get him. Since it sounds like you don’t have a place for him, I think my friend would take him as long as we pay for his expenses. I don’t know where she will ultimately be, we hope she will remain here in California at a beautiful ranch in Ramona. You would love the area. My e-mail is: bcco1@sbcglobal.net. E-mail me your phone an I will call you. Incidentally, the “o” in the bcco is the letter o – not the number.

  5. Grandma Gregg: Where in Northern California is Ace? I’m in Southern California and have a friend up near Redlands. Hoping one day to visit her and was asking about Ace’s whereabouts.

    • ACE lives many hundreds of miles north of Redlands. Thank you for caring about him … after all, he is your horse and my horse and always will be … but he belongs only to himself … as it should and always will be.

      • Grandmagregg: You are so right, he belongs only to himself and you are right, that is the way it should be. Can anyone see him if they were to go where he is?

Web Center Displays Legal Rights and Options; Sign Ups for Free Legal Counseling

A unique new online legal help center for federal, state and contract employees confronting whistleblower-related issues was unveiled today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). Besides proving breakdowns of the scope and strength of whistleblower-related laws, the site enables public employees to schedule free consultations with PEER attorneys.

“Our goal is to give employees information about their rights and options before they become entangled in the legal system,” stated PEER Senior Counsel Paula Dinerstein, who is one of the nation’s top civil service litigators having won such high-profile cases as the restoration of Teresa Chambers as Chief of the U.S. Park Police. “We aim to assist conscientious public servants in better serving the public without needlessly becoming martyrs.”

  7. The BLM Twin Peaks roundup in 2010 was in violation of the LAW.

“The roundup is illegal because it indiscriminately removes all horses, some of which will not be excess”

    From ANIMALLAW COALITION:
Appeals Court: Appeal is Too Late for Wild Horses
    https://animallawcoalition.com/appeals-court-appeal-is-too-late-for-wild-horses/

Plaintiffs then claim, “The roundup is illegal because it indiscriminately removes all horses, some of which will not be excess”. Under WFRHBA only “excess” horses are to be removed from the range. Plaintiffs say horses must be identified as “excess” while on the range. “It was Congress’ intention that the herds should be culled where the horses are found and only adoptable horses to be rounded up” . In the Calico case, the judge rejected a similar argument

BLM’s “failure to take a hard look at the impacts and effects of the proposed action on the wild horses and burros, which are components of the range ecosystem and naturally function within that ecosystem in a particular way is arbitrary, capricious, and an abuse of discretion”.

Plaintiffs say BLM has also violated NEPA by failing to take a “hard look” at alternatives to a roundup, failing to disclose methodology, present hard data and ensure the “scientific accuracy and integrity” of its Environmental Assessment with regard to the appropriate management levels or AMLs necessary to maintain a thriving ecological balance in the Twin Peaks HMA, the alleged damage to the range and water sources, foaling rates and the effectiveness of fertility control treatments.

Plaintiffs say BLM has failed to respond to dissenting scientific opinion with regard to (a) foaling rates; (b) the adverse impacts of fertility control; (c) the actual effectiveness of fertility control drugs; and (d) killing or removal of mountain lions for cattle or sheep.

Indeed. BLM’s Environmental Assessments used to justify roundups of wild horses are typically cookie cutter based on long outdated data, if any. These EA’s typically point to unsubstantiated claims of “range degradation” and “lack of water” to eliminate wild horses and burros from the range, yet ignore the impact of the thousands of cattle and sheep that also graze there.

    • Can you contact Greg Downer? If so, we can maybe start our search. I’m still working at 73 years of age, hope to retire someday, and all my extra bucks goes to my horses. But “Freedom” deserves, if possible, to be found. At a ranch is better than in a feed lot somewhere. And, maybe, if he has acquired a new family of a couple of horses, we might make him happy with a new family – costs considered of course.
