Why Live Only to Eat a Horse?

If you are observant you may be blessed with seeing many spectacular sights as we slowly float and paddle down the river that we refer to as life. Of course, there are a multitude of stunning vistas that grace the shore line if we only take the time to focus and absorb the beauty and traveling with us, floating on the live giving waters of the river, are many souls and personalities that shine and amuse with their wonder and grace. But every now and then the glistening waters become polluted with the evil sewage of human greed and blood lust. Sometimes that evil is so intense and focused that it manifests itself into human excrement that fouls the air we breathe and sticks to the water line of our life’s vessel as we paddle to get beyond it and into the clear water downstream. And as we paddle we often feel a bump or a “doink” as we run over the floating sewage and strike a large floating patch of crap and today we have been bumped and “doinked” a couple of times by the floating turd many of us know as “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis.

Letter to Horseback Online: EWA Official Calls Wallis Facebook Information Bogus

CHICAGO, (EWA) – I would like to personally thank Rep. Sue Wallis (WY) on behalf of equine advocates for the recent emails sent to her supporters [published on this website], her facebook page outbursts, but more importantly, for the below comments she posted on a facebook page. She has provided us with documentation for Congressional members that leaves no doubt that those involved in the horse slaughter business have never, and have no intention, of ever following food safety laws or acknowledging the facts surrounding horse slaughter. One can only imagine that if she has such little regard for food safety, how she will twist and spin animal welfare laws in her proposed “regulated” horse slaughter plant.

Equine Advocates Be Heard

Here is a great site to be heard. It requires registration but it is important that you comment and vote. Please keep in mind on your comments that the audience for this site is Congress so keep it short, factual and professional. You can register as an organization or as an individual. I noticed that quite a few of you have commented on our slaughter legislation since yesterday. Great comments vs the same tired illogical statements from the dark side.

“Unwanted Horse” Producer Pfizer Sponsors Teleconference to Promote Compromised GAO Report

Chicago (EWA) – A long overdue Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the effect of closing the US horse slaughter plants is scheduled for release on Wednesday, June 22. Although the report’s contents are to be kept confidential until released, slaughter supporters have been indicating for months that they were leaked the report and have now orchestrated an “Unwanted Horse” teleconference late in the day of the release presumably to promote the report’s findings.

Video Comic Relief: Slaughterhouse Sue Ballet

We promised you a reprive, on Sundays, from the mayham and insanity of horse slaughter and Obama’s war on our wild horses so here it is ~ Wyoming State Rep. “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis and her ever faithful lapdog, Dave “Doink” Duquette took a few moments out from their rigorous schedule of butchering and eating American horses to show us some of their other diversified talents. It is truly breathtaking….eat your heart out Congresswoman Lummis!!

Wallis Cracks in Facebook Outburst Banning Critics

HOUSTON, (Horseback) – The late President Harry Truman was an expert on politics, heat, and kitchens. He knew that the combination of all three could be just too much for some in elective office to bear. Such seems to be the case with Wyoming Rep. Sue Wallis, the leader of an often fumbling effort to re-open horse slaughterhouses in the United States.

Inspected & Rejected: Animals’ Angels Investigation Confirms EU Report

In May AA investigated the Morton, TX Feedlot and 2 export pens (Del Rio, TX and Eagle Pass, TX) after EU reports alerted us about large numbers of horses being returned at the Mexican border. EU inspectors reported that on the day they were present at the export pen, 40% or 12 out of 30 horses were rejected (advanced pregnancy, health issues and injuries). OISA data revealed that over a 10 month period when EU inspectors were not present, roughly 9% or 5,336 horses of 62,560 horses were rejected.

Horse Slaughter to Remain Illegal in House Bill

Update June 16, 2011: By a vote of 215-200, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 2112, the 2012 agriculture appropriations bill.

Rep. Jim Moran’s amendment made in committee remained intact in the final version.

Under Rep. Moran’s amendment, inspections required for horses bound for slaughter for human consumption will remain de-funded as they have been since 2006. This means if the House version becomes law, commercial horse slaughter for human consumption will remain illegal.

Text of Lummis Congressional Horse Slaughter Amendment Failure

In case you missed the session on Lummis’ amendment, below is the Congressional Record Text. Some of it wasn’t displayed in the record but only in captions so I grabbed what I could – that’s the reason for the difference in format toward the bottom.

This link will get you to the videos, captions and official record. The videos are tricky – I had to hit “next clip” several times to get to the next clip.
