Captured BLM Wild Horse Gets New Home

March 2011 – I have been crying for the wild horses and burros since my daughter called me on her way back from the Twin Peaks Roundup last summer – after she saw for herself what REALLY happens to the horses and burros during the BLM stampedes. This week however, my tears were of joy … it’s about time something GOOD happened … even if it is just a small step in a gigantic tragic story.

BLM, USGS Begin New Wild Horse Fertility Control Study

The Bureau of Land Management and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) have begun a five-year wild horse contraceptive study at the BLM’s short-term holding facility in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The pasture breeding study will test the effectiveness of two formulations of the investigational contraceptive vaccine SpayVac® to determine if the treatment can reduce foaling rates in wild horse mares.

100 Captive Wild Horses Moved From Squalid BLM Facility

Multiple news reports indicate that more than 100 wild horses have been moved to a short term holding concentration camp at the Utah State Prison in Gunnison. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) allegedly moved the captive mustangs to a BLM corral at the prison after the agency’s Butterfield Canyon facility near Salt Lake City incited national outrage.

Nevada Demands Obama Stop Wild Horse Roundups

Reno, NV (April 21, 2011) —Taxpayers and wild horse advocates join with The Cloud Foundation to protest on the streets of Reno as well as at the airport. They demand roundups stop and for the government to cease warehousing the last living symbols of the American West. A new wave of protests is sweeping across the country after yesterday’s successful Save Wild Horses~Yes We Can! protest in San Francisco, sponsored by The Cloud Foundation, composed of primarily disgruntled democrats rallying outside the Democratic National Committee fundraiser for President Obama.

Federal Court Gives Thumbs Up to Wild Horse Suit

In a precedent-setting decision issued Wednesday in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, Judge Morrison C. England, Jr. rejected the Department of Interior’s motion to dismiss our lawsuit challenging the roundup and removal of nearly 1,579 wild horses and 159 burros from the Twin Peaks Herd Management Area (HMA) in northeastern California last year.
