Ronald Benedict Wenker, 64, was booked by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault of a child younger than 14 and two counts of lewdness with child younger than 14 for allegedly molesting a girl over a five-year period.
CARSON CITY, Nev. — A former top Bureau of Land Management official has been arrested in Nevada on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Ronald Wenker was arrested Tuesday in Reno by Washoe County sheriff’s deputies. He remained jailed without bail Wednesday on two felony counts each of sexual assault and lewdness with a child under 14.
Wenker, 64, was named head of the BLM office in Reno in 2005. Before that he held a similar post in Colorado, and worked in several states around the West, including Oregon, California and Wyoming.
In 2009 he temporarily served as acting director for the federal agency in Washington, D.C. He retired last year after a 40-year career with the BLM.
‘‘We don’t have any information surrounding the allegations but we’re saddened by it,’’ said Heather Emmons, BLM spokeswoman in Reno.
The sheriff’s office said Wenker’s arrest followed accusations by a young girl that he had been molesting her since 2007. In a statement, authorities said Wenker was taken into custody without incident after investigators corroborated what the victim had told them.
Jail officials did not have an attorney listed for Wenker, and a telephone message left at Wenker’s home wasn’t immediately returned Wednesday.

Anyone that can abuse an innocent horse , has a lot more going on ……………………in there head , one of them is child abuse , which will not be tolerated by any means, lockem up throw the key away !!!! Now investigate the rest of them also………..If proven guilty he will get nothing but the cell he should have been put in a long time ago…………… Prison inmates always have a surprise for child abusers and molesters……………………… JUSTICE NOW WILL BE SERVED !!! for all he did !!!!!!

Sadly, I’m not surprised. It’s a proven fact that an animal abuser (or in this case, one who condoned it) will eventually abuse a woman or child. Ultimate justice will prevail.

Besides the natural tendency for animal abusers to abuse people as well, there is the mentality rampant in the DOI/BLM that they are above the law. They can do whatever they want because the rules that apply to everyone else don’t apply to them. I don’t know how this got started, but it’s been going on for a long time. Needs to be STOPPED.

So he started this thing when the girl was nine, and it lasted for five years which makes him a pedophile. So then charges would not have been as severe had the girl been a day over 14 to begin with? That’s still too young to give consent.
