“Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis Can’t Keep Her Stories Straight

The Wallis slaughter plant has been the subject of dozens of stories and in each it has been completely different.
At first it was going to be a mobile slaughter truck that went around to various holding facilities like the Cheyenne Stock Yards (which Sue was “negotiating” to obtain). It was going to kill horses and feed the meat to prisoners and school children. The owners of the stockyards announced it would not be happening.
Then it was to be a marvelous modern and humane facility designed by Temple Grandin. It was going to sell the meat to Wyoming residents. But Dr. Grandin soon began to sense something was wrong with the Wallis bunch and told them to quit using her name.
At about this point Wallis started calling it a “holistic” system that would include rescue and rehabilitation for some of the horses and death for those who had no future. This is not a business model but a PR model. Businesses run on production efficiency. I can just imagine a plant director sighing and saying “These horses are just too nice to kill, so we won’t have any work this week.” In the immortal words of Bill Cosby (album Noah) “riiiiiggggghhhhtttt”.
Now it is going to slaughter the unsalvageable horses for zoo meat and animal feed. Since horse meat is no longer used by pet food companies, the business would be very very small. In fact, the Dallas Crown plant tried to switch to that market and gave up after just a few weeks. There are a few small backyard slaughter houses that kill for that market already, and others who repack byproducts from Canada, so what little market there is already has competition.
The funny thing is that when the plant’s plans were grandiose, Sue was saying they would be up and running in 6 months. Now that the plans are so scaled back that she could virtually start it in her backyard, she is giving herself up to two years.
Nothing so far has come to pass and yet publication after publication publishes her “plans”. She has no investors, no market, no business plan and no business experience. Moreover, anyone with business experience knows that you don’t go around announcing your plans in the press until you have your ducks in a row.
What Sue is really selling is Sue.

Sue Wallis has a lot of nothings. And she never witnessed the very thing she is trying to “sell” to the American public, a horse slaughtered.
The Wallis saga is about as twisted as a Cinnamon stick.

Judging by the looks of Sue, it doesn’t look like they need any more to eat in Wyoming.

Please make this about Sue and not everyone in WY. I have family there, good hard working people. They live hours from Sue.
Take a look at a WY map and you will see that Sue’s home area is more NE WY and look at the roads and travel conditions to get to western WY.
For instance to get to the Pryors from my sisters you have to go north, then a bit ne, and then south to Riverton just to turn north again to go to Lovell. There is no road over the mountains so you have to go around.
All of that is a honest 6-7 hr drive straight through.
Or you can take your chances and go through Yellowstone but in summer the tourists make getting thru at a reasonable time–not so feasible.
My point? Don’t blame my sister for the actions SS. She doesn’t live anywhere near in her so can’t vote one way or the other.

I agree, Margaret. Both of my sisters live in Montana and they are just mortified at the amount of cruelty and past political shenanigans that have come out of that beautiful state. One bad apple doesn’t make the whole bunch bad. I have nothing against Oregon even though Dave Duquette haunts it’s hills, in fact, I pity the local folks just for that very reason.

eeww! Who would buy Sue?

My thoughts exactly Leslie. You don’t think the Chinese would take her instead of her business “plans” she’s been trying to sell them. But then again they would probably return her in no time and want their money back.

I will never fathom why someone would make the slaughter of horses their life’s mission.
