FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Special Rangers with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) are looking for a man on the run charged with stealing cattle from auction barns and individuals in Erath, Gillespie, Rains and Johnson counties worth an estimated $165,000.
HOUSTON, (Horseback) – Two men from rural Utah were indicted by a federal grand jury following a rare investigation of a wild horse scam by the Bureau of Land Management.
A federal grand jury is charging two Utah men with multiple counts of fraud in an alleged scheme to buy dozens of wild horses at discounted rates and sell them to commercial processors in Mexico.
Newspapers from coast to coast are carrying stories about doomed Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) pleading for the Congress to bring horse slaughter back to America. Baucus is calling for an end to a ban on the funding of USDA horse slaughter inspections that has kept the industry out of America since 2007. In doing so Baucus is taking part in a growing tradition of political penance for disgraced members of the secretive horse slaughter caucus, one of the few remaining bipartisan institutions of Congress.
hese comments really hit home as both my wife, Terry, and our good friend and Director of Wild Burro affairs at Wild Horse Freedom Federation, Marjorie Farabee, have had their lives turned upside down due to the wild fires in the Magnolia, Texas area the last 10 days. The fire has come just scant miles from both of our ranches. Terry still has an evacuated equine guest or two with our rig located and loaded to roll with the herd while Marjorie has many of her 107 charges off in alternate areas. There is nothing either funny or at all related to eating horses regarding REAL responsible horse people attempting to save the lives of their valued equine charges. But the sick and twisted Wyoming State Rep. “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis and her impotent lap dog Dave “Doink” Duquette can see an opportunity to slurp up horse blood at every turn, even in a tragedy. Their perversion is despicable. Thanks Vicki for continuing to expose then for what they are, the very dredges of human society.
This is extremely critical and one of the most important calls you will make. We have heard from several legislators that they are not hearing from us. We are down to the wire. We hear there will be a full senate vote this week so this is not the time to procrastinate.
Introduced in June by Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (S. 1176) would prohibit the interstate/international transport and transfer of ownership of any equine intended for slaughter for human consumption. If passed, this bill will finally stop the flow of U.S. horses into Mexico and Canada, where they are processed for their meat and eaten overseas.

There is no such thing as humane horse slaughter at this time. What is stated below can be backed up with absolute evidence or extensive documentation of what actually happens. Please know that as awfully horrific as horse slaughter actually is, the untold suffering many horses go through from point of sale to slaughter is horrific. At the point at which the Kill Buyer owns the horse that is loaded on a large crowded tractor semi trailer, his biggest expense is fuel for the truck not food (or water) for the horses; which often are injured by the time they arrive at their first US feedlot stop many hours later. DOT and USDA Laws are often broken by driving too many hours; as well as drivers not providing horses rest, food and water at required intervals that are set forth in the Transport to Slaughter Act. Since laws are not enforced, Animals that are supposed to be protected suffer *before* the horrific death with the act of slaughter itself, regardless of the country where the horse is slaughtered.
Thanks to record summer temperatures and persistent drought, several wildfires have flared in Texas this year, according to information contained on the Texas Forest Service website. Since Sept. 1 the Texas Forest Service has responded to 181 fires covering a total of 118,413 acres. On Sept. 5 the agency responded to 22 new fires affecting 7,544 acres, including 10 new large fires, according to the website. As of Sept. 6, firefighters continued the struggle to control the blazes.
