“Today’s video installment does not directly highlight our beloved wild horses and burros but instead addresses the spirit of the wild heart and the inherent need to be free and with family.
This past week The Cloud Foundation and Wild Horse Freedom Federation struggled to stop the BLM from rounding up some of the last of Colorado’s wild horses, the West Douglas herd. The federal judge sided with the BLM and as we speak the freedom of these graceful creatures is being destroyed and their families are being torn apart…but we shall not give up nor shall we sink into dark negativity. Instead, our conviction is further strengthened by the cruelty and our direction becomes more laser focused.
As portrayed in this delightful video; it only takes a handful of caring individuals to make a substantial difference in making the world a better place for all to live. Join us in our quest to secure the freedom and safety of not only wild horse and burro families but of all the fellow beings that we are blessed to share this journey with aboard the great spaceship known as the planet Earth. Out of respect for the horses of West Douglas…let us ‘Make It So’.” ~ R.T.

I mentioned earlier Hope Ryden’s book written in 1999.
Actually – title is “America’s Last Wild Horses”. Finished yesterday – Worth reading! There also are a couple paragraphs that answer the question “why do the herds react to roundups by more reproduction”? Page 302:
“Most BLM personnel are range managers & have little training in wildlife biology. What strategies they employ to deal with horses have been borrowed from game managers -whose aims are exactly opposite to theirs. Game managers do not try to reduce populations, but are in the business of manipulating environment & social factors to produce SURPLUS anmals for harvest! The BLM was unwittingly creating exactly that result, giving a boost to the horses reproductive capacity.
She worked with Wild Horse Annie for quite a few years, until Annie passed away in 1977.

Oh my gosh, those desperate sounding exhales were upsetting. Thank goodness she was able to be saved, and what a beautiful place.

“The range lands that were once filled with vast numbers of wild horses, and other forms of wildlife, are now quickly dying due to the artificial efforts of our government. The rangelands, however, can easily sustain not only the wild horses and burros existing out there now, but also every one of those in holding facilities, which now number well over 40,000.
“The truth is that every one of those wild horses and burros in holding facilities, if released back to the areas from which they were taken, along with those in the wild, would help bring the balance back to the rangelands, a balance that is so very vital!!”
