“I am heading back to Washington D.C. next week to lobby against horse slaughter and attend the Horses On The Hill event along side members of Congress and the Senate, the ASPCA, HSUS and AWI. I will be there not only to represent and be a voice for horses, but also to represent you, the 80% of Americans who are against horse slaughter. Please write messages to your legislators in the comments, including your thank you’s to those who are already cosponsors of the SAFE Act H.R.1094/S.541 – the Safeguard American Food Exports Act, which protects America’s horses from slaughter. (Please make your comments respectful – you can be upset and make your point without being disrespectful.) I will bring your messages with me to D.C. and pin this post for legislators in the House and Senate and everyone to read.

As a horse owner of many horses, I respectfully beg you to support the Safe Act. Please do not spend our tax dollars to inspect a meat for foreign consumption. Please do not put our own food supply at risk, such as what happened in Europe. This industry is a health and environmental risk, as history already shows. If you would not have it in your own backyard, please do not allow it in mine..We are American, we can do so much better for our horses. Lets invest money into education, horse rescue, gelding and euthanasia clinics instead of into this risky, cruel and inhumane industry.

Thank you Declan, you’re right at the top on my list of “heroes for horses”!
Here in Southwest Florida we used to be represented by Cong. Vern Buchanan who we could always rely on to do the right thing when it came to animal rights, abuse, cruelty and illegal slaughter and for that we applaud him. After re-districting our new representative has been somewhat of a disappointment only saying he’ll consider our views. He doesn’t have the backbone to say just how he’ll vote.
Senator Bill Nelson D-FL has stated his opposition to horse slaughter but Senator Marco Rubio R-FL obviously will not for cultural reasons.
Sometimes our immigrant brothers and sisters, for whom we bend over backwards to accommodate (press 2 for espanol) take advantage of our good nature. They forget “When in Rome do as the Romans”. In the United States we do not buy pigs from illegal slaughter farms to celebrate Christmas nor do we raise horses for food.

Pressing 2. Keep up the good work. Your writing skills are vastly improving. Think about some journalism or write a book about your experiences with the horses. You make me smile through the anger and that is something not easily done around here. Thanks to the horses, some of us now have a life after becoming disabled and ready for the ….well, you get the idea. Thanks to Children 4 Horses and Declan Gregg, there will be a future for horses and wild horses. The will eventually govern this land and they are really getting their feet wet! Thank you Declan Gregg and Children 4 Horses for fighting a fight that has never been witnessed before! Thank you!

Thank you Declan for standing up for our horses and representing the rest of us 80% who are against horse slaughter. No.1 reason to stop slaughter from happening in this country
We don’t eat horse in the United States and those who do should go live somewhere else.
You need to gather all the facts and see the video’s of their gruesome ending.
A Horse is a flight animal and cannot be destroyed by slaughter humanely.
You will see the young healthy horses destroyed on a weekly basis.
People need to be more responsible and humanely put down their horses.

Finally someone who represents the view of the majority of Americans – and he is only 12!!!! The president has said that he will sign the SAFE Act into law, so those in congress who do not have the backbone to stand up to the meat mafia and pass this legislation should be ashamed of themselves.
